for those that are extremely busy like me...
lets discuss sleep, work, efficiency and all the related.
How many hours do you get? how many do you think you should get at minimum?
Do you take nap(s) during the daytime?
Do you think the naps help, or do you think one long period of rest at night better? (longer time in REM)
Do you drink coffee, energy drinks/bars, etc... to help you stay awake and focused?
any other ideas and comments are very welcomed.

Senior year is a killer. With applications and all else, I'm getting 5 hours on a good night!

This is my junior year.
- average 5 hours of sleep every night
- a nap on friday afternoons (b/c I'm pooped by the end of the week and still have chinese school on saturday morning)
- coffee...but it has this really weird effect on my throat by making it dry and irritable so maybe I'll switch to herbal tea
I think exercise is good for staying alert and focused. Lie on your side, one arm propping up your head, on the floor and do leg lifts while studying chem or history or whatnot...eh, it helps me.

-usually about 7 hours a night
-nap on weekends, but I don't have time during the week. Usually naps leave me feeling kind of groggy anyway.
-I drink coffee at night (well, like 8 or 9) if it looks like I'll be up after 11. I take caffeine pills sometime around first period if I'm feeling particularly tired in the morning.
side note: I was a lot more tired the first week of school or so when I was stressing about getting everything done, and then I had an epiphany and decided not to worry about it and just trust that everything would, in fact, get done, and now, although I'm not getting as much sleep as the first week, I'm much more rested.

I usually get 5-8 on school nights. I have a lot of trouble functioning on less that 6. I like 7.5.
I never nap, as it makes me more tired. Also, I don't sleep in on weekends more than 9 hours because I get off schedule.
I love caffeine. I have coffee every morning, and a soda or two.
Exercise is helpful too. I take breaks studying and go to the gym, or do other stuff that is active.

i get around 8. but i nap everyday.
for example, i napped from 7 to 12 midnight today, and will probably go to sleep around 3 am for 3 hours. so thats 8 hours.
i dunno, i like the serenity and the quiet of night, i guess.

How many hours do you get? how many do you think you should get at minimum?
- Four hours a night. Three, on a bad day.
Do you take nap(s) during the daytime?
- Yes, in the car.
Do you think the naps help, or do you think one long period of rest at night better? (longer time in REM)
- Somewhat, but the lack of REM sleep kinda makes me even more sleep deprived.
Do you drink coffee, energy drinks/bars, etc... to help you stay awake and focused?
- Only at World Affairs Councils..
any other ideas and comments are very welcomed.

- anywhere from 4-8. it all depends on my hw load, how much work i've done in school, what my schedule is the next day, etc. and also whether or not i have softball or tech week for plays. 8-10 is maximum effeciency for me.
- can't take naps. it's some kind of defect with me. if i'm exhausted beyond all belief i'll end up falling asleep...but i can't sit down to take one. also just don't have the time
-naps also don't help me either. i'm just tired when i wake up. i like the one long period of sleep. last night i got 6 hrs and the night before i got 5 and i was more awake after the 5 hrs than 6. go figure.
- caffeine/coffee adicts, dont' take offense...but i go nowhere near that stuff. the occaisional pepsi during tech week while i'm still at school, but that's it.

Um, I sleep about 7 hours because I have class at 7 am and i live several miles from school. Homework is a factor in that.
I don't take naps because I end up being too sleepy and exhausted to finish my work.
No, I don't think they help.
Our school is right next to Starbucks, so of course its like my new fetish. I like Coke, but occasionally, and Pepsi tastes so nasty. Eww.

i get about 5 a night, which really isnt enough for me but i have no choice with all the stuff i have to do
im not big on naps, i deff cant take them during the week bc i still feel tired (even more) after taking them. maybe once in a while on the weekend but not all that much
i love tea. i drink about 2 cups hot in the morning, and diet snapple during the day.i need the caffeine, and i like tea. i dont like the taste of coffee at all, plus tea doesnt have as much (it has a lot though) so i think its ok

I get like 5/6 a night and I'm great, a minor headache sometime maybe. When I get 4 or less it's total system crash though and I have to sleep for 10 hours the next day so don't do that if possible!
If I got less than 2 hours of sleep the previous night, I go home at 3 and sleep for 10 hrs. and wake up to do hw. On friday afternoons sometimes I take a nap but generally I don't like it; actually naps make me feel sick. So I think a long period of sleep is better
I don't want to get addicted to caffiene (retain the effects and punch, you know) so I only like to have it around in a yucky form i.e. unbrewed grounds; I forbid myself to use the coffee maker. I mix it with one part milk and one part sugar and eat it with a spoon, sort of as one would snuff, if I need caffeine. Our school has bottled frappuchinos and Sobe also so if I've pulled an all-nighter or anything, which destroys appetite, I'll get one for lunch.

yea in h.s the most i would get would be 6hrs a night, and would sometimes fall asleep after school,if i get more i become "mean" it was weird, only on the weekends i would sleep till 12 or so,back then i mostly drank juices and lots of water, rarely caffeine, and everyday after school i would gpo to the public library and go into the "quiet" room and just review everything i did that day for 90mins and then come home and do my h.w,but as mentioned above Sr. year with all the apps was a killer esp. with schhol wok also, best advice i can give is start them summer of sr. year and take an essay or writing course, best thing ever
