By Brzrk (Brzrk) on Sunday, August 08, 2004 - 12:29 am: Edit

So, whenever I'm relatively new to a forum I like to find out what other people listen to, I'm quite into my music, $250 DJ headphones that rock on right now.

My Favorite Songs Ever (In order, I've put a lot of thought into this):

1) Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
2) Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
3) Dream On - Aerosmith
4) House of the Rising Sun - The Animals
5) Let it Be - Beatles
6) Behind Blue Eyes - The Who

And other great ones in no particular order:

Piano Man - Billy Joel
Californication - RHCP
Soul to Squeeze - RHCP
Strawberry Fields Forever - Beatles
Baba O'Reily - The Who
American Pie - Don McLean
Right Now - Van Halen
Renegades of Funk - Rage Against the Machine
Calm Like a Bomb - RATM
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
What I Got - Sublime

Damn, that's a long post. Lot of good music out there though.

I'll throw in a vote for Piano Man.

is that #1 a joke?

By Koopatroopa (Koopatroopa) on Sunday, August 08, 2004 - 09:59 pm: Edit

Most people don't seem to realize that music goes beyond rock...

By Brzrk (Brzrk) on Sunday, August 08, 2004 - 11:18 pm: Edit

Not hardly. I've listened to Stairway 37 times in a row. Long bus trip.

That's true Koopa, so why don't you name some good (whatever you like). I personally do not like classical music. I've listened to much of it (my mother being in various choirs), but do not like it. I think hip-hop is garbage, techno is alright, I don't like it as much as rock though. Jazz and blues I would listen to, but not on my own, and I don't like most country western.

Through the vast breadth of musical genres, I would pick all of my favorites from rock. I never said anyone else had to.

#1 = Stairway to Heaven. Especially if you play the guitar.

Other songs which are maybe not #1 but I seem to like a lot:

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Leave a Light On for Me

Tiny Dancer

By Jcm525 (Jcm525) on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 - 08:20 pm: Edit

Eye of the Tiger, esp if you run or work out a lot. Sorry, I just watched Rocky III during soccer two a days. But still a sweet song.

By Poison_Ivy (Poison_Ivy) on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 - 08:27 pm: Edit

Apocalypse Please - Muse
Beautiful Day - U2
With or Without You - U2
Electrical Storm - U2
Human Nature - Madonna
Hollywood - Madonna

Stairway to Heaven...love that song. (Back in middle school, the DJ always played it at the end of every dance.) Memories...

By Asianalto (Asianalto) on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 - 10:34 pm: Edit

Speak-sing the milkshake song in a haughty british woman's accent (falsetto for guys) and you will never be at loss for laughs.

paradise by the dashboard light, Meatloaf.

See my 2 friends rendition and it will be your favorite song for life! lol

Hmmm......Xenowang......not only do I agree, I believe I know you.....

heh, small world

Why are all these people saying Stairway is #1? I'm a Zepp fan, and there are 100 (if not, 200 or 300) songs I would put in front of that.

Paradise by the Dashboard light = good call
Tiny Dancer and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, too

Well, right now, I'm listening to Cream's Greatest Hits: 'Strange Brew' 'SWLABR' 'White Room' etc

And I saw CSN last night- they did 'For What It's Worth' and 'Love the One You're With' among CSN numbers

Dude, I don't know if anyone has heard about this Allmans/Skynyrd tour... but how hot does this look? As of now, they aren't coming near us, but I'm sure they'll come to the Beacon or something (haha).

1-Stairway to HEAVEN!!! OMG that is such a pretty song...but for a while, i used to hate it--cuz i thought it was another song called "Heaven"...heheh <3 CTY canon...
i love that song about LA by the Red Hot Chili Peppers...i forget the name tho...
and "Drops of Jupiter" by Train...^_^

By Jstanfie (Jstanfie) on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 08:54 am: Edit

Seriously, if you listen to Zeppelin at all you'd realize Stairway to Heaven is one of their worst songs. Also, it's not particularly difficult to play on guitar, so I don't understand where you guys are coming from.

Here are my choices (in no order):

Pink Floyd - Money
Led Zeppelin - The Girl I Love She Got Long Black Wavy Hair
Led Zeppelin - The Crunge
Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same
Outkast - Return of the 'G'
Outkast - Aquemini
Steel Pulse - Handsworth Revolution
Bob Marley and the Wailers - Trenchtown Rock
Coldplay - Shiver
Cream - I Feel Free
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
Radiohead - Anyone Can Play Guitar
Talking Heads - Psycho Killer
Television - Marquee Moon

Naturally there are tons of songs that could be added - my main point however is that Stairway to Heaven doesn't even rank in the top 10 of Zeppelin songs alone. I don't understand why "official" rankings rank it so high.

By Apply85 (Apply85) on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - 03:24 pm: Edit

Jstanfie, I totally agree. Good call with the Song Remains the Same. Money is good (of course), but there are others I prefer, like 'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' and even 'Time.'

And Psycho Killer is awesome.

As for Zepp;
What is and What Should Never Be
Fool in the Rain
The Rain Song
D'yer Ma'ker
Over the Hills and Far Away
The Ocean
Communication Breakdown (BBC)
Bring it on Home
Heartbreaker
Black Dog
Rock and Roll
Going to Cali
+more
