This is for the schools that you wouldn't mind going to if your dream schools don't pan out.

Mine: University of Arizona

Asianalto don't come to Arizona it sucks and Tucson is the A$$hole of the United States.

By Nutriamorada (Nutriamorada) on Saturday, August 07, 2004 - 05:24 pm: Edit

U of A as well, it's instate and it's better than ASU (my opinion anyway)

By Excusememixed (Excusememixed) on Saturday, August 07, 2004 - 05:29 pm: Edit

Northeastern should not be considered a safety.

By Slipstream99 (Slipstream99) on Saturday, August 07, 2004 - 05:50 pm: Edit

University of Florida (bright futures AND national merit scholarship = everything is paid for in full!)

By Silmon77 (Silmon77) on Saturday, August 07, 2004 - 06:57 pm: Edit

I'll take ASU over U of A, please. So much more to do. Mill Ave rocks!

By Nutriamorada (Nutriamorada) on Saturday, August 07, 2004 - 10:23 pm: Edit

Arizona is a hole, period.

By Familyguy24 (Familyguy24) on Saturday, August 07, 2004 - 10:28 pm: Edit

excusememmixed

I'm pretty confident I am in at northeastern, especially since our school gives 125k scholarship to northeastern to the top 2 students (each) of the graduating class, should they decide to attend, and I am #2.

By Asianalto (Asianalto) on Saturday, August 07, 2004 - 10:34 pm: Edit

Why is arizona a hole? I thought for my safety school I'd pick the best one I could go to for free, and the others were in like Arkansas and Nebraska where I have no interest in going, but now you people are starting to scare me off...

By Willywonka (Willywonka) on Saturday, August 07, 2004 - 11:25 pm: Edit

I have three schools that I'll definitely get in to that I would be very happy at- University of Maryland, St. Mary's (MD), Washington College (MD).

just kidding...
it's UT Austin. They have to accept me based on a top 10% state law. I can even choose my own major if i'm in the top 2%, which I am.

Asianalto, don't listen to Bern because he just says that cause he was born and raised in Arizona so is probably sick of it. I'd prob. say the same if you said Nevada...but U of A is a good safety school.

By Nutriamorada (Nutriamorada) on Sunday, August 08, 2004 - 07:08 pm: Edit

nah, if you wanna go to Arizona for school, then that's cool. you'll find stuff to do.
I live here so I'm kinda looking for a change :)

Idiias: Actually I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and lived there until I was 10. Then I moved to Geneva, Switzerland until I was 12. After than Toulouse, France for 2 year and then I moved to Phoenix, AZ. Finally I'm getting away from AZ.

AZ is nice if you're a retired person. The weather is nice (except for a few months when it's 110 out), there are tons of golf courses, housing and living expenses are relatively cheap in comparison with the rest of the country and it's very laid back and relaxed.

However, I dislike it for many other reasons. The quality of the education sucks. Collegewise ASU and UofA are pretty bad. High schoolwise the only good schools are PCDS, BCP, XCP, and a few public (Chaparral). There is really nothing exciting to do in AZ, there cities are pretty boring other than the clubs in downtown scottsdale. Tucson, where the UofA is located, is the ugliest city ever. It would be depressing living a city that is so ugly, had high crime rates, and it overall even more boring than Phoenix. Going to ASU or UofA would be ok socially because they are huge party schools, however, if you actually want to get a decent job coming out of college I'd suggest looking for a better safety.

I hate that stupid top 10% rule for UT. Especially for the out-of-staters who go to super competitive schools yet are just as competant as a top 10% from a small not so great school in middle-of-nowhere Texas.

Ugh...in-state Arizona schools stink.

I'm applying to them anyway, but I'm going to have other safeties as well (not sure what yet).

If I had to go in-state, I'd say U of A. I live way too close to ASU to want to go there.
