How many of you have one of these yellow LiveStrong bracelets? It supports patients with cancer. Have you heard of them?

By Eyesclozedtight (Eyesclozedtight) on Friday, August 06, 2004 - 01:39 pm: Edit

i'll buy one, but i probably wouldn't wear it just b/c everyone else already has one. not that i don't support cancer patients, but as a fashion statement, i'll stick with my leather bracelet that says "help" on it.

By Tropicanabanana (Tropicanabanana) on Friday, August 06, 2004 - 01:42 pm: Edit

you're not going to wear it b/c everyone else has one? that's the whole point, to get as many people as possible to wear them.

By Nike1800 (Nike1800) on Friday, August 06, 2004 - 10:30 pm: Edit

Half the people only want them now because some people just started wearing them, and as a result, they want in on it. This is the first time I am actually a trendsetter, and it really starts to make me angry that when I was the only one wearing one, it was seen as "my type of thing"; but now that almost half the people around are wearing one, it has somehow become "cool" to wear one. I know I can guarantee that I'll be wearing it for life, because of its message, and the athlete it symbolically represents.

My $0.02

please don't hate me because i'm trendy
they're not going to laugh at me again"

just keep this in mind bud

By Traci87 (Traci87) on Saturday, August 07, 2004 - 05:05 pm: Edit

I've only seen one person wear it. My aunt gave 3 to me. Are only certain ppl allowed to wear it, as in ppl w/family members w/cancer?

By Ameliabedelia (Ameliabedelia) on Sunday, August 08, 2004 - 04:54 pm: Edit

I have one. Anyone who wants to support the cause is more than welcome to get one, just go to a local sports store or wearyellow.org. I wear mine because my grandma has lung cancer.

By F3arxn03vil (F3arxn03vil) on Sunday, August 08, 2004 - 05:00 pm: Edit

I plan on getting one when I find one! Traci, it's not just for those who have family members with cancer...

Several of my family members have died of cancer and my cousin was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
