What kind of stuff are you interested in? Because if you're into the humanities, National History Day is an awesome and (I think) pretty prestigious competition

Find something YOU enjoy. It doesn't have to be HUGE...just something you have a passion for. For me, that happens to be dance. I don't compete or win awards, but I've been dancing for 14 years because I LOVE it.

I did National History Day in 8th Grade--went to States for a documentary on Picasso, but we just didn't have the technology to compete with these kids who brought in whole computer systems and set them up--they should really have some restirctions on that....
Anyway, I wish a teacher did it in my high school. We're all too busy anyway, but I actually really enjoyed it. And you can also do papers, or boards, or plays.

well there are several large youth political organizations, try JSA, www.jsa.org... i can hook you up if you need help... the office would probably be able to persuade your administrators
Youth and Government is another political org., and it's run through YMCA, so it's outside of school...

Hm...I did Nat'l History Day this year. Got to states for a website, but they chose these poorly constructed websites that was simply done in HTML in about 2 hours.

kyip, what state are you from? I know not that many states offer websites as a category, so any state that does gets to decide how to judge them. Kind of unfair. If you know a lot about computers, you should try a documentary. They're a lot of fun!
