I'm not sure...I'm going to work on an essay for the free topic over the summer that is required for most college apps. For the rest of the essays I'm just going to work on once I get the actual application.

I've written two so far just so I can start finding my voice, hehe. I didn't think it would be this hard. When I tell people I've started working on apps/essays, they laugh and call me paranoid/an overachiever. Honestly, as soon as I get any apps (and so far I've only gotten the Common App), I'm going to go to work, because I don't want to be bogged down with apps and schoolwork once school kicks up again. Next year's going to be tough for many of us, so I'd say get as much out of the way ASAP.

I'm going to write a master-paper that will be used for my IB Thesis paper, my DuPont Essay and my college free topic.

I didn't start my essays until a little over a month before the early admissions deadline, and I was fine. I had a lot of schoolwork, but balancing it with college applications really wasn't that bad, especially because more than half of the schools to which I applied accepted the Common App.

Enjoy your summer, and start your essays with gusto in the fall.

I'm planning on starting some essays over the summer. Once school starts in the Fall, I'm going to die. Football + SC pres + newspaper editor + a few APs... I don't want to end up failing school to get my apps in.

Same here, Just_Forget_Me. I'm trying to get a head start so I won't have that extra stress when school rolls around. Of course, I can't complete ALL before school starts (well...), but why not get as much done out of the way now rather than rush to do it later? I'm a born procrastinator, so I'm afraid that if I don't get started on it REALLY early, I'll put it off to the last minute. Blahst!

I have a nice advantage. School is out (October-December) during application cycle for me. :D Plenty of time to sit in front of the computer and type.

a couple of questions:

is the common app for 2004-2005 out yet? if so, should we be filling that out and sending it to the colleges that accet them?

and is it better to keep filling these out on hard copies or online? because i could print the common app out like 5 times and do them over and over...or i could wait until the options for online application become available...idk...

Although seriously that's my reasoning, I'll do it during any "boring" periods at SSP. What is the "common app?" Because I've read to submit something as soon as possible...but could I just send everything (application, essay, etc.) at one time?
