By Caliplaya03 (Caliplaya03) on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - 02:18 pm: Edit

Biology
Chemistry(I think it's getting cut)
Studio Art
U.S. History
Computer Science A&AB
Calculus AB

English Lit
English Lang
Goverment
Environmental Science
French Language

I think that's it.

By Thuff30 (Thuff30) on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - 02:26 pm: Edit

Out of the first poster's list we DON'T have:
Human Geography (what is that?)
Latin Literature or Vergil
Macro/Microeconomics (you can go to the other high school to take them)
Music Theory (only as independent study - which teacher guides you thru)

In addition to your list we HAVE:
Computer Science (3 or 4 different ones)

By Ndbisme5 (Ndbisme5) on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - 02:51 pm: Edit

All the APs in the world. This year they added the final one (or so they are hoping)... AP World History.

By Perintastic (Perintastic) on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - 02:54 pm: Edit

holy crap.

we have:

biology (every other year)
chemistry (when bio isn't offered)
physics (if enough kids sign up for it)
world history
US history
government
calculus AB
spanish language
french language (if enough kids sign up for it)
english language
english literature

and i think that's it. we have some kids who take the AP art or music theory tests every once in a while but we don't offer the classes.

-Latin Literature*
-French Language
-Spanish Language*
-Studio Art

By Brockpojo767 (Brockpojo767) on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - 02:57 pm: Edit

human geography is the study of people and their environment. the AP class is only 3 years old and next year will be the first my school will offer it. it seems like a fun class to take if you like culture and examining human behavior towards the land people live on.

By Brockpojo767 (Brockpojo767) on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - 03:02 pm: Edit

biology and art history are the ones at my school that people aren't interested in. next year for my art history class i found out that there are only 12 students, including me, taking the course next year.

my school is an over-capped public school with a misson to persue ALL student needs. thats why we have so many APs available.

By Korey (Korey) on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - 04:44 pm: Edit

We have AP:

US History
English Language

There is only one class period of each. My school sucks...

By Emika (Emika) on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - 04:47 pm: Edit

4 APs at my school and 2 might poof next year due to the teacher leaving, eek

Have no idea if they'll give APUSH and AP US Gov to another teacher or the new teacher :-/

We only have:

AP Bio
AP Chem
AP Physics
AP Calculus
AP Studio ARt
AP Lit and Comp
AP Lang and Comp

THATS IT. We are so freaking cookiecutter. Boring kearny... I wish we had AP Psych or AP Environment, but noooooooo we get stuck with the basics here. I can't wait to get out. Sure we get the money for a new track and new field, but we don't get any new classes.

Mine:

I hate it when the entire thread is about AP classes and listing of AP classes. Why? Because some people find the need to write AP before each class. What's up with that? We get the idea they're AP. sorry, just gets on my nerves

By Emika (Emika) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 02:09 am: Edit

Try to beat 2 students in Calculus AB and 3 in APUSH (and all three decided to opt out of the test, and only two kids from the regular USH class inculding me took the test lol)

Plus, all are only offered in one period each. (expect for English, two periods for one class o_O) so if you have to take a required class during a same period as the AP, you're stuck with the required class and possibly bye bye to the AP since they're only open to juniors and seniors (Calculus and US Gov are senior only)

and best of all.. The AP label isn't even put on the transcript! No weighted GPA at my school also! Heck, we also lack honors classes!

YAY FOR SUCKY SCHOOLS! *cries with Korey*

Wow this thread makes me feel a little better. I thought our school didn't have many AP's but I guess it is pretty good compared to some.

AP Calc AB
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
APUSH
AP European History
AP Government (1 semester)
AP Studio Art
AP Spanish
AP English Language
AP English Lit

Classes are small and not too many kids pass exams so I'm not sure how good the classes are.
Seems like they are AP in name only. Plus in Sr. year, the kids have to work on a year-long SR. Project for graduation which takes alot of time out of AP English lit.

By Jefiner41 (Jefiner41) on Friday, June 25, 2004 - 09:22 pm: Edit

About five years ago, we had 3 AP Courses (Chemistry, Calculus, and English). However, we only have ONE (Calculus) now. Last year, we didn't even have that class because only one person would be qualified enough to actually do well in it so.. the school didn't finance it. AP Calc will be up again next year though (5 people in it total..lol..).

We do have distance learning where we can take classes over satellite from Howard College. So, with the addition of AP Calculus, I'll have English 1301 and GOV/ECOM. Great year next year...

Our school ostensibly offers the following AP courses, but for many, they expect you to self-study most of the way (Calc BC). Nonetheless, our school still includes these courses when they tally the number of AP classes they "offer".

English Language and Composition
English Literature and Composition
French Language
Spanish Language
Biology
Chemistry
Physics B
United States History
Microeconomics
Macroeconomics
Psychology
Comparative Government and Politics
Studio Art: 2D
Studio Art: 3D
Studio Art: Drawing
Calculus AB
Calculus BC
Statistics
Computer Science A
Computer Science AB

Yeah, it seems like a lot, and considering that this year's graduating class only had 87 students, it IS a lot. Classes like Chemistry and Physics B had around 5-7 students, I believe.

This is a reason I dont like my school.. not only are the placing and scheduling horrible, but we have no variety in classes. I've heard all of these other schools and not just AP, but variety of all classes, and its really quite frustrating not having some of those classes that I would LOVE to take. Anyways..

English
Calculus
Spanish
French

Do your AP classes in your schools have just one AP class (for each subject) per grade or multiple AP classes for a subject? Just curious.

Spanish Language

That's it. And Econ (sometimes), Spanish, and Physics are combined with regular classes because not enough kids sign up for them. We also have a few "honors" classes... which are kind of fake too. Like our honors option for pre-calculus was taking a regular pre-calc class and having your tests graded with no partial credit. I think we might have an AP Chemistry too, but it's "online only" and no one's ever done it.

I'm jealous of all of your schools! AP European History, Art History, Latin? We don't even have regular versions of those classes. At my school, they have basically one block of each class and they all conflict with each other. I wanted to take psychology (of course we don't have AP though haha) and advanced drama this year, but guess what? They're BOTH offered only once and they conflict with the only block of AP Econ. Which might be combined with a regular Econ anyway.

Ugh.

SOOOOOO many of our AP classes got cut this year and our school had a very limited selection of AP classes to begin with. now with the bugdet cut heres the list of AP and most of which are only opened to seniors
English
pyschology
statistics
calculis
chemitry
biology
physics
french
spanish
economics
us history

and thats all there is. and like i said most of the REALLLLY smart people only get to start taking APs in their junior year. and since most of it is only for seniors , it can really mess up your schedule if you try to take them before senior year. really sux. some people take like 10 APs by the time they graduate. at our school if you can squeze in 5-7 thats like extrordinary~

holy crap, we dont even have a French 1 and 3 because not enough people signed up, lol.

Juniors can take:
-Psychology or Chemistry
-Lang/Comp

Seniors can take:
-Lang/Comp or Lit
-US or Bio
-Physics C
-Euro His (not sure about the combinations with this one, because it is its first year :D)
-AB or BC Calc
-Art Studio (cannot combine with any other AP besides lang/comp or lit)

Yeah we have a weird AP perdicament. My grade has 54 students, and we all have different interests. I wanted to make an AP Stats with a couple of other students, but money is tight. I would love to take Econ too, but...

I'm taking:
Lang/Comp, Calc BC, Physics C, Chem, Euro, Pysch*, Comp Sci A*, and Comp Sci AB,*,
*The equivalent to AP Psych at a CC
*The equivalent of AP Comp Sci A at a CC, and I am taking the Comp Sci AB exam (i'm pretty sure the AB exam anyways).
I'm graduating with a maximum of 40 credits
