i know this is kind of a rediculous question, but what kind of things shiould i do for extracurriculars? before you say "omg you're an idiot", i seriously don't know. i come from a school where people aren't even active in much. 95% of the people go to the local comm colleges there. i asked the counselor and they said join the animaton club. i'm probably homeschooling next year so i need to figure out what to do. what's considered a ec? can it be sports or artsy stuff? i just know it's something not in the a book.. lol. and i read somewhere about a girl who went to england to study abroad. is that ec if you do something special there?
gee i need to read up on some of this college stuff. anyone want to recommend any books while you're at it?
i'm sorry if i sound really dumb, hehe. it's just around where i am many people know jack about these things cuz everyone went to cc.

An EC is anything you do outside of schoolwork. It's an activity that you dedicate yourself to because you like it. What are your interests?

EC's I wish I had done that you should look into: Theatre, Debate/Speach team, Mock Trial, Yearbook, and jazzband.
Yes, it can be "sports or artsy stuff". My best advice to you is, join as many clubs and sports teams that you have time for! It is such a great way to make friends, which in turn, means that you will most likely have fun.

THe main thing is to do what you enjoy. This could be outside of school. Church activities, working a job, volunteering, music lessons, being in a rock group, doing outdoor activities such as training for marathons, all count as ECs.
If you'd like to do an EC at your school and there's no club for it, you also could start one. If it's too difficult to start it at your school, you could start it outside of school through your church, a community center or just with you and some friends.
Colleges just want to see that you aren't a couch potato who would add nothing to their campus.
In your case, you could start a club where students watched films and discussed them, you could volunteer teaching yoga, you could spend time going to yoga retreats, etc.
