GRRR Okay see my HS did away with rankings in 2000 (yay!)... However they don't weight grades AT ALL. So it sucks for me who takes tons of APs and not get enough recognition for it. I didn't even make it into NHS, or have made to the Honor Roll in a while... I know that if my grades were weighted I'd have a perfect 4.0. I even complained to my principal a month ago and asked her to weigh my grades so I coud have some kind of honors or recognition when I graduate in June. She wouldn't budge and said that there were tons of people complaining about not making NHS when they were hundredths off the cut off. But what about weighing grades for people like me, who take on APs and honors? She said that the school doesn't weigh grades, period. I was angry about it.

Now that the awards assembly was last week, the school decided to post the award winners and such from the assembly onto these posters next to the cafeteria. I didn't get ANYTHING. While I was interested in school-related awards (like best science student, the arts, etc) but I was not interested in hearing about the outside awards like the Book Cubs. My parents don't see anything wrong with posting people's names in public... I know people who deserve them but didn't get anything. There's even a girl that I know who's going to be a honor graduate but she has only taken 1 AP so far!

I feel like ripping down these things and dumping them in the garbage or at least ask my principal to take them down.

That sucks. I'm glad my school is normal, 5 for advanced/AP, 4 regular and 90+ A style. Some schools are just messed up. How new is your school, mine is 4 years old, maybe the newer schools are catching onto rankings and weighting. Too bad you can't transfer, as your probably have a couple years at your school. I guess you just have to suck it up. Good luck, and keep trying.:)
