I'll be taking AP economics next year as a sophmore with out having taken the optional prerequisite, honors economics. I am an outstanding student, but in my school very few sophmores take AP classes and I'm a little bit nervous that I might be over my head. How difficult is AP Econ? and should I wait a year to take it?

Which econ? Macroecon is pretty straightforward, the hardest concept probably being the Keynesian Mechanism. After you have a hold of that, you'll be fine. I know there is a sophomore in the other AP Econ class and she did fine (aced the course I believe).

all AP classes will be difficult for a sophmore. I'm a senior that took AP Econ and i barely got A's first semester and will get an A, barely again, this semester. But I never took the class seriously ever, so if i probably did, I'm sure the class would have been an easy A.


But an AP class is an AP class, and if you've never taken one before, you might be a little surprised by the amount of reading/work you get. i took some AP classes before so i came in knowing what needed to be done.

i just took AP Econ (both macro and micro) today and i think that if i was a sophomore, i would be able to handle the class, and the AP exam.

it's not a particularly difficult class. some things are just a bit confusing, but you'll get it. most of econ is logic anyways.

don't worry, i took 2 classes as a sophmore. as long as you are dedicated to your work, you should be FINE. i'm taking ap micro this summer actually so i can't really tell you much about htat. but honestly, don't sweat it. AP classes are like any other HARD class you may have: you HAVE to devote time to it but it's not impossible. =) good luck

AP Econ is really easy. Probably the easiest AP test I've ever taken, I would estimate at this moment.
