When I was in 9th grade I remember starting high school and looking at the seniors and juniors like if they were so mature and so adult-like and now that I'm going to be a senior next year I don't feel like neither my peers or me are like that image I use to have. I still feel like a little kid and youthful and yeah. I'm going to be 17 in august! That's just crazy! 17 is almost 18 which makes me legal. Does anyone feel that we are growing up to fast or am I the only one that feels like a little kid(and not in an immature/responsible way, but like were still young to go off to college).

It is kinda wierd. I'm going to be 18 in about two weeks and it hasnt really set in yet. I also always used to look up to the big kids. These next few years should be interesting. After all, people aged 18-25ish mingle pretty freely, I wonder what kind of effect that has on your age perspective?

I am currently a junior in college but I read topics in this part of the forum. In my experience, my class (high school class of 2001) was many times more mature than the younger classes. In my hometown the younger students are terrible. They think they know everything and that behave as they wish without regard for rules. That generation of students seems to have trouble coming to terms with the nature of what it takes to grow up. As I got older I was very eager to mature. I was tired a being a little kid who had no freedom...no driver's licsense, no job, etc. It feels good to be able to take care of yourself and be independent. But there are some kids who have no real intention on becoming self-sufficient adults and would have no problem living with their parents for the better part of their lives. I have two more years of college left and I will be living with my mom. I am so sick of it. This summer me and my brother will have our own apartment for some engineering internships, and I can't wait to have that extra independence.

OMG! You too? I remember that so well. In fact, me and my friends have had multiple conversations on the subject.

When you go into high school, it is extremely easy to tell who the seniors and juniors were. They have this 'grown-up' look. Now that I'm a junior, I don't feel as though I have that look...

I think I'm going to walk up to a girl on monday and ask her what grade do I look like I'm in.
