Today I received a letter extending me an invitation to apply for this summer program based on my academic excellence.
How legit is this program, has anyone here been to it? Any advice at all? Is it worth the $5,000?
Thanks!

is it called "oxbridge academic programs"? i did their summer program at oxford (they do one at oxford and one at cambridge) last summer, and it was so great. i think it was about $5,000 so could be what you're talking about. it was worth it for me. i took some excellent classes that were really amazing, met people from all over the usa (whereas before i'd only known people from new york, pretty much) and got to go to england and call one of the lovliest cities in the country my home.
i miss it a lot.
as for the academic excellence, almost everyone that applies gets in, but it's a fairly self-selecting group of kids, most very intelligent. i warn though: these kids break themselves up into two categories: those there for the culture and the joy of learning, and those there in order to put one more thing on their college apps.
