For those who like to mix their pleasures, Starbucks has started a new line of coffee shops where you can download six cuts to a CD for $6.99, $1.00 extra for each additional cut. Initial catalog is 20,000 titles, expected to grow to 150,000 in coming weeks.
Called the Hear Music Cofeehouse, the first one just opened in Santa Monica, Calif. The service will next go into 10-12 Seattle stores, then 200 nationwide by the end of the year, and every Starbucks in North America by the end of the year. (Currently 7,500 Starbucks, growing by 3 per day.)
Features include a listening bar where listeners can browse songs.
