Just wishing you a happy holiday. Who's Irish here?

How many Caucasian people still take up the traditions or keep links? I'm interested in that.

I'm 100% third generation Irish. We still keep in close contact with my mother's relatives in Galway.
Since most Caucasian people came to the States long ago, I think time has just ended most connections to their European homelands. They came to America to escape Europe and begin again, and most had no intention of ever returning. Also, the whole melting pot aspect of America had made their heritage seem less important. If someone is of Irish, German, Dutch, French, and Lithuanian descent, then it's hard to be enthusiastic about each culture, which are very different.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Now all raise your glasses for an Irish toast!
Here's to lying, stealing, and cheating!
May you lie to save a friend;
May you steal the heart of the one you love;
and may you cheat death.
And btw, its very un-Irish of me, but I always have a green bagel :-P

'If someone is of Irish, German, Dutch, French, and Lithuanian descent, then it's hard to be enthusiastic about each culture, which are very different. '
Of course that's understandable. I was curious for the most part that many people claimed these heritages and clicked beer glasses, but didn't know anything about any of them. You have an interesting background.

I'm not Irish, but I did try to share the love, by saying to my friend in the supermarket
"Oh, by the way, Happy St. Peter's Day!"
"...you too."
