would it be a good idea to take linear algebra at UCI over the summer. the prerequisite is only triganometry, and i will be finished with math analysis.

I always thought Linear Algebra was higher than Calculus..hmm interesnting.

generally you take it after calcules but there is no calcules involved.

through almost all math curriculums linear algebra is taken after calculus, but to do linear algebra it its not really necessary, its like I could I learn about calculus but have no trigonometry and or knowledge of the Pythagorean theorem (minus trig sub and some other stuff). You can do it, just people usually don't. I'd personally recommend taking some calculus before linear algebra just because calc is so cool and I’m guessing your math analysis is kind of similar to a pre-CALC course, but that's just based on the few schools I know that have a course called that. Either way I'd take something.

math analysis=pre-calc + unit circle trig + basic calcules

Are you saying you want to go trig to lin alg to calc to real analyisis or whatever?

The usual sequence of calc, then lin alg is supposed to lay a solid foundation of problem solving before getting into the proofwriting that makes up higher level college math. Linear alg. is usually people's first introduction to writing proofs (the dinky things we did in geometry don't count). Going in the order you propose would make the proof-based courses non-sequential. That may or may not be a problem.
