I'm starting to believe im the only student here who doesnt go to a "competive public/private/boarding school" I mean i dont go to a bad school, if you rated schools by letters it would probably be a B/B+ but ohio isnt exactly known for its public schools. Is there any one here who does not go to the top schools in the nation?

Yes. I go to a standard (some may consider sub-standard) public school in virginia.
You are not alone.

Mine is okay, I don't know. The first AP classes came about just in time for me!

My school would probably be considered sub-standard. No APs or honors. We got a new building this year, but that's only because our old building(built in 1916) got condemned. The ceiling in one of the classrooms collapsed at night, and you could sick a screwdriver into the concrete at the base of the building.

My school is a "slightly above average public school in PA" I guess that is how I would describe it. It's not too bad, but it's not anything like a lot of the schools that I've read about on this board. We have about 3 APs and we do have honors. However, I'm not really sure how these classes would compare to classes at other schools with the same labels. We have a pretty good facility, but then again, we are a small school district. Also, I would say we are the best public school in the area. I don't know, though.

My school is by no means "very competive." I would consider it an inner-city school (although I live in a very large suburb, my school has the demographic and economic make up of an inner-city public). We do have APs, but the sub-standard teaching negates the number of AP classes.

we have ap classes but no honors... they will no longer let us grad early either

I go to a public school in Louisiana ... 'nuff said.
Actually, my school has been perfect for me and has allowed me to pursue all of my interests ... we have about ten honors classes, 3 AP classes, and I've really been able to challenge myself with outside interests as well as with other things within school ... I just have to be willing to make the effort.

My school is the complete inverse of some of the schools I've heard about on this board. I attend a small independent study charter school with no honors, only 1 AP (another one proposed for next year), and, if you're really in for a shock, no Chemistry or Physics due to lack of facilities
; I have to go to my local community college to take those classes just to be considered by a UC (which requires these lab sciences). There are hardly any clubs or extracurricular opportunities, too, although I have done some community service and some extra stuff outside of school. I think I'm ranked #1 in my class at the school (currently a junior), but I don't know how my schedule is going to look come next year when I have to compete with the other students....

My school is across the street from welfare housing. And it's also a public school in Louisiana, just across the river from Allibug's (which I have a fairly good idea of what it is).

My school isn't big time and is often rated pretty low. It's an old school, formerly the county community college, and weights in at over 100 years old. We have a big campus and thus big classes (655 in my senior class but the other classes are 700-800). We send a sizeable amount of kids off to college but not too terribly much. Our valedictorians often go to Ivy league schools and the top 5% end up somewhere solid (top 25). Our SAT averages are just average (I think our website says that each subject is about 30-40 points above the national average).

My school sounds just like yours, Jesse. We have 2500 students, not many of which are bright, although the school offers 13 or so ap's. Sat's are probably in the median range, and when I was in 9th grade our school was accused of cheating on the star test. woot

Stalker... I mean, yeah. My school does sound similar. We also have a good amount of APs offered and actually do pretty well in those but there are a lot of folks at my school that don't have too many hopes to go off to college.

Oh, and with my school (and I'm sure others were affected), we had to retake some Golden State Exams because the truck carrying the tests to the grading center...exploded.

i would definitely say my school is well below average. its an inner-city school. at my school, there are 3000 students and the average gpa is 1.73. most of the students are failing at least one class or another. the SAT average is around 700 and there are about 45-50 kids per class. kids bring knives and things like that to school and sometimes teachers find knives lying around on the floor and they just stick them in their pockets and keep them but theyve done that less after one of the teachers slipped on a piece of paper last year and had a knife in his pocket and it went through his thigh and cut up half his muscles. kids throw other kids like incoming freshman down the stairs on a regular basis and the teachers dont seem to pay any attention and just walk right by. luckily i only got thrown down the stairs once, and that was in 9th grade during the first coupla weeks of school. i only got a broken collarbone, coupla broken ribs, and a broken wrist. this one kid last week was paralyzed for life after his neck snapped because he landed wrong. last week my physics teacher threw one of the kids onto the ground so he had to go to the hospital immediately because he ripped one of those desks that are built into the ground out. (half of them have been ripped out already and sometimes they're just lying randomly around in the hallway and even outside the school sometimes) last year, three kids were shot with guns brought in by other kids, no one killed though. there is previously chewed gum on all the walls and all over the floor. last year, one of the ceilings broke during class and the teacher got soaked! so we all ran out of the room and they later found out that water in one of the water pipes frozen and the pipe burst. had needless to say, we have no AP or Honors courses. the teachers spend most of the time just trying to keep all the students under control. hardly anyone brings backpacks and we used to have a computer lab but all the computers were either stole or thrown out the window and fell three stories below. i think its safe to say that our school is terrible.

i live in Jacksonville, Fl. heard of it? just asking b/c i didn't before i moved here. i go 2 bartram trail. It's is all right. about 4 years old -still pretty new. mostly whites so i have some competition- which worries me. any body else like that? my cousin purposely went 2 a bad school so he could really stand out-and he did. its almost cheating but it beats the pressure of these kids getting all A's and 1570s on their SATs. <<true story- that guy is pretty bright i'm just prayin for a 1280 so i can qualify for scholarships. anyways back 2 my school...it has honors, AP, and dual enrollment, tons of clubs and sports. it's getting big and known (atleast in our area) its really southern. i'm from PA so its all still a little weird to me. (they had Jeb Bush visit 4 our 9/11 memorial, sweet but a little overdone.)i'm greatful 2 have a good school but at the same time it doesn't seem 2 make a difference especially w/ Bolles (a "prestigious" private School) not too far away.

Count me in as one of those kids who go to an average public school in PA. We have no AP's, several honors classes, and about 70 students in each grade. We also have grades 6-12 in my school. I would say that out of all the public schools in the area we have one of the worst reputations (I would say THE worst, but another school close to us just had problems with kids sending around hit lists, which doesn't happen here). And because property taxes are higher than what residents like, our School Board is looking into a possible merger between us and another school district. My schools isn't the best, but it's one of those schools that I don't think you can really appreciate until you go to school there.
