i'm in socal. i hated the weather today it was ranging from 84-93 and i was stuck in traffic in downtown la because i had an appointment in a building right next to the marathon route. however, a couple days ago the weather was quite deliciously mid 70s. i guess it all balances out quite favorably

Yah, we all love the sweet 75 degree winters here but take it from me, in june- August it is 90-110 consistantly for 90 days.... it is by no means worth it. Especially when you have cheap parents who think the AC is a valuable commodity and won't use it. Late Oct- Feb is the time to be here. Today it was about 90 in Mission Viejo where I live and it is only March 8th.... That is just not cool :P pun very intended. I cant wait to go to college b/c all the schools I applied to are near the ocean where it stays like 20 degrees cooler. Man that will be awesome.

its a blazing 28 here in PA
you all are lucky!

heh...that's funny. i lived in socal for half my life and now i live in norcal, and i have to say, norcal is much better ;)
living in the bay area is awesome...it's great to live in such a liberal place. you can't get much more liberal than san francisco.
norcal's weather is just as great as socal's- it was 79º here today. it was 82º in san francisco. and there's less humidity. :P
By Aerin04 (Aerin04) on Monday, March 08, 2004 - 10:46 pm: Edit
yep, norcal is the only way to go.
and the weather was SERIOUSLY AWEOSOME today!
By Thebarnrat (Thebarnrat) on Monday, March 08, 2004 - 11:50 pm: Edit
I could do without the summer weather. I live about thirty minutes inland in a desert-y area and it's about 107* through the ENTIRE summer. It's not rare to have days that are 113-117* either. But still, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Sunset strip, Venice ?????? Can't beat it.

What about Denver? We have more than 300 days of sunshine per year - more than Florida. Today, it was a sunny 70 degrees.
By Artic (Artic) on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 02:01 am: Edit
I don't know how many days a year are sunny in California (not counting coast b/c of marine layer) but if I had to guess I would say we have well over 320 days a year that are sunny.
By Coffeeshopgirl (Coffeeshopgirl) on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 04:22 am: Edit
90 degrees today! and it's not even spring yet!
in so cal, it's really hard to stay in class...
By Aerin04 (Aerin04) on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 05:51 pm: Edit
Collegeguy... guaranteed you've never heard of it. It's in Marin County... Novato High. Where are you?
By Becks777 (Becks777) on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 06:42 pm: Edit
"90 degrees today!"- Wow thats hot, and i mean really hot, especially at this time. I have never been a fan of hot weather- with all that stickiness and sweat and everything.....I was in the bayarea few months back and the weather was awesome over there-like in the 70s, plus the SFO winds made it even more cooler and very comfortable. If thats what the weather is everyday in SOCAL then i m lucky to be living in the midwest.
And yeah SOCAL people- ever heard about season change- the 4 diferent seasons??
By Rowan (Rowan) on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 07:02 pm: Edit
What are these "seasons" I keep hearing about?
I know "hot" and "cold." (I live in the mountains, so I am of a special group that understands the "cold/snow" concept.)
;)
Looking out the window, it's really hard to remember that it's March and technically still winter. It's /gorgeous/.
By Becks777 (Becks777) on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 11:04 pm: Edit
Fall and spring. I dont mind living in two months of freezing cold here in chicago for these two seasons
By Weener (Weener) on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 12:30 am: Edit
GO SAN FRANCISCO..... so. cal is so overrated
By Jlq3d3 (Jlq3d3) on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 01:44 am: Edit
So cal has seasons but in a different way. We choose what season we want on any given day. Lets say its march, like it is now. In LA, it is 78 degrees, nice spring weather. I can a) choose to stay and enjoy it. B) Go to palm springs (the desert) and enjoy 90 degree weather (summer), or c) go to big bear (the mountains) and enjoy winter and sking. All with in a short drive.

Seriously.....Southern california...specifically ORANGE COUNTY (woohoo) rocks...hellllllo they made a movie and a tv show about us! BUt honestly...its embarrassing-we are NOT all spoiled brats...a lot are though, including me (i have been in denial about being spoiled...but too many people have proved it
..oh well) As for the movie...we dont wear black bikinis to funerals! BUT kobe bryant goes to my church and brad pitt and jennifer aniston go to my sisters costco...i swear im going to stake out the place for a month just to meet them!
By Dday2004 (Dday2004) on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 - 05:05 pm: Edit
The one thing I find weird about Californians is that most of them (key word: most) seem to think California is the best/only place in the world and seem quite ignorant to the rest of the world, or even country. They seem to be all out with this "Cali Pride" thing. I dunno, maybe that's just the people I've met? Don't get me wrong, I like the place...I've lived in SoCal for a few years and it was tiite, but I just found the majority of Californians' obsession with the state a bit odd.
By Becks777 (Becks777) on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 - 05:13 pm: Edit
Dday2004, thats how it always works. People from beverly hills think they r from the best town in the world and they do not care about anything else. People from LA think they r from the best city in the world and they do not care about anything else. People from southern cal think they r from the best part of CAL and they dont care about anything else. people from CAL think they r from the best atate in America and they dont care about anything else. People from the US think they r from the best country in the world and they do not care about anything else.
By Dday2004 (Dday2004) on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 - 05:37 pm: Edit
haha yeah I definitely agree there, but I don't see people from other states/cities in other states as...loyal...to their town/state. and yes, having lived outside the US, I definitely know what you're talking about with the "People from the US think they r from the best country in the world and they do not care about anything else" statement. But why the Californians within the US?
By Eliel (Eliel) on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 - 06:50 pm: Edit

We don't suffer from California Pride. We see good things about other states but are mostly glad we're not in Texas. Or Mississippi. Or Nebraska. Or Kentucky. Or-- You know, you might have a point there.
By Araesova (Araesova) on Thursday, March 18, 2004 - 01:54 am: Edit

I'm a norcal kid at heart, but I can't wait to be in So-cal next year.....flip flops 12 months of the year in San Diego....not 9 months..not too mention better surfing and beaches. Pacifica and Bolinas get old! Go so-cal! Go nor-cal. GO CALIFORNIA.

"how could you live in a place where it rains almost everyday...uggg"
San Francisco is not Seattle.
By Aerin04 (Aerin04) on Thursday, March 18, 2004 - 02:22 am: Edit
i was born and raised in san fran... since when does it rain every day?
and yeah, it rains, but at least we have more than one season.
By Araesova (Araesova) on Thursday, March 18, 2004 - 07:16 pm: Edit
lol i was just kidding guys. I went to San Francisco once in the Summer and it was raining like crazy so I go the impression that it rains there everyday
By Eliel (Eliel) on Friday, March 19, 2004 - 12:52 am: Edit
Why would someone want the whole "four seasons", when they could have at least ONE GOOD season?
We Californians don't mind one GREAT season, at all! Life's good, that's why I choose to stay here in California for my college experience...and eventually all my life(I better)!
