hi it's almost time to choose senior year's schedule and some stuff i want people's input on
so far:
gvtm/economics (required)
regular eng.
AP psych
finite/discrete honors math
creative writing
AP calcAB or regular physics?
i'm basically have a dilemma with choosing btwn AP calcAB and physics. the thing is i took pre-calculus sophomore year and i didn't want to take calculus at all. now i think i might want to, but there would be a gap in my schedule. plus i got C+ 1st semester and B- 2nd semester for pre-calc so i don't know how well i'd do in calc (though i heard it's easier). and if i took it i would have 5 years of math and only 2 years of science. then again i can get extra points for weighted GPA with calc and my counselor said if i want to have a better shot getting into UCs i should take it. if i do physics i might self-study for AP calc exam (not sure yet if taking the exam). i never really did physics in middle school though so i'm sure i'll struggle a bit in that class. my counselor said colleges like to see it on your transcript though.
i could take out creative writing and take them both, but it might be busy enough as it it. but there's so much competition so i could be willing to work harder. 10th grade GPA wasn't that great and 11th grade classes aren't as challenging as most people. for a reference... my 10th grade schedule: honors eng, honors chem, honors precalc, french 2, PE, and world history. 11th grade schedule: US history, regular psych, AP stats, digital imaging, honors eng, and forensic science (not UC-approved).
a question not related to this topic: would colleges not look on you as highly if you don't take any AP exams junior year? i might be taking 2 AP exams senior year, but that's it.
sorry this is so long, so if you read all the way down here, thank you so much!! good luck with your next year's schedule, too!

ignore the above. changed my mind about things so yeah =)
can anyone answer these questions. would YOU take a course that colleges want to see somewhere on your transcript for sure (ex: regular physics), but with the risk of getting a B or even a C? and would you take APcalcAB even though you took honors pre-cal two years ago?
thanks!!

Toughie... I am rebelling against the machine by refusing to take physics (APES and then Anatomy + Physiology, which is designated honors even though all you do is color in your coloring book and dissect cats), but I would think you need at least 3 years of science. ALthough quitting math sophomore year is not so good either. Eh. I would have to go with the physics, but think positive and aim for the A. Why the heck did ya drop math junior year?

yes i got myself in a mess =/ hm i didn't drop math junior year...i'm doing AP stats right now. the thing is when i was deciding classes for junior year i didn't want to take calc because i did so bad in pre-calc and my teacher said i could do AP stats instead. but now i realized it would probably be good that i take calc. oh and i need only two years of science at my school, but it's recommended to take three.
right now i'm ok with taking out creative writing so i am able to take both calc and physics if i want to. just not sure if i should take physics because there are risks involved. ok so colleges want to see it on your transcript, but even if i get a C?
well thank you for your advice. =) i should probably try to think some more.

Oh. Okay. I don't know about colleges saying "Well, she got a C, but at least it was in physics", but it would be a good idea to take it (and try really hard to at least get a B). Out of curiosity, if you are taking AP Stat now, and already took precalc, how do you not have 5 years of math already (maybe my school's different, but I took Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, then precal and then the AP stuff). Also, a word to the wise from the wise: physics=precal, from what I've heard.

You guys are lucky to take so many classes. Out of the 7 periods at my school, we can only take 5 real academic classes. 5.5 at most. -
Senior Schedule:
City in Lit-(English)
Ap Calc AB
Government or Economics..still deciding which one
Physics
Ap French Lit.
...the half credit course I'm taking would probably be Investments.
I would love to take Government and Economics together, but my school's so strung up on having us kids relaxed and stress-free that it gets annoying.
