By Korey (Korey) on Thursday, February 26, 2004 - 07:26 pm: Edit

I got my course selection sheet for next year. So far, I plan on taking the following:

Accelerated English III
Biology II
Chemistry II
Advanced Algebra/Pre-Calculus
AP United States History
Art II
Entrepreneurship/(haven't decided on one last half-year course...)

How does that look? Do you think taking two sciences in the same year (especially THOSE two sciences) will hurt? Also, is AP US History hard? At my school, we have to fill out a form and write an essay which then has to be approved by the AP US History teacher. The only classes Im worried about are Accelerated English III (I've heard the teacher is extremely hard), Chemistry II, and AP US History...Please give as much input as you can!

BTW, I'm currently a sophomore. The above schedule is for my junior year.

By Mochika88 (Mochika88) on Thursday, February 26, 2004 - 07:49 pm: Edit

HAHA did you read my post!? I am taking almost the same schedule but on higher levels and what I know from the juniors are that AP BIO, AP CHEM, and AP American History are pure hell. 70 pages a night or so and a quiz in a week, quiz is on anything.

By Bionuker (Bionuker) on Thursday, February 26, 2004 - 09:59 pm: Edit

give comment on mine thanks.

AP biology
AP calclus AB
Physics (h)
Englsih IV (h)

By Expnptntl (Expnptntl) on Saturday, February 28, 2004 - 11:23 pm: Edit

How many different words are there to replace "honors" and "AP"?

By Lightspeedoo7 (Lightspeedoo7) on Saturday, February 28, 2004 - 11:31 pm: Edit

I'm a freshman, this is my soph. schedule:

Honors Chemistry
Honors British Lit/English III

By Sammgc68 (Sammgc68) on Sunday, February 29, 2004 - 03:11 pm: Edit

Eh. Here's my planned junior schedule:

AP English Language
AP Environmental Science
AP Calc BC
AP World
Spanish 4/5
Symphonic Band 1st/Jazz Ensemble 2nd

Not too hard, except for Calc. I'm rebellin against the school and refusing to take physics, b/c Chemistry was a complete disaster and I don't want to have to go through MORE physical science. I probly will have some of the same teachers, which should be good come recc time.

Course selection starts 2 weeks later...

Soph schedule:
AP Biology
Honors Chemistry
Honors Precalculus
Honors English II
Health/PE
Mandatory Study Hall
Mandatory Bible
Spanish I or German I or Japanese II (depends on whatever teacher is available)

No time slot for orch again...>_<...double math this year, double science next year. Due to our small student body size, this is the most demanding schedule a soph can take. :(

By Benzo415 (Benzo415) on Thursday, March 04, 2004 - 10:11 pm: Edit

Senior Schedule (we have block schedule, so APs take up a lot of room):

AP English Lit
AP Amer Gov/Econ
AP Calc AB
AP Calc BC
AP Spanish 4/5
Journalism
Guitar

I'm psyched. A good mix of hard stuff and electives, and NO SCIENCE!

By Sirhcv (Sirhcv) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 05:45 pm: Edit

For me...

AP english
AP physics
Indepedent Chemistry Research (involving nutrition and McDonalds food!)
Multivariable calc and differential equations (local uni)
Some required humanities course
Independent comptuer study (writing software to save the stupid school hundreds of man hours)

then some other course i've yet to decided... theres not really much left for me.

By Rmac43 (Rmac43) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 05:53 pm: Edit

Sirhcv, will you be a junior or a senior? That is an awesome schedule, and your independent chemistry research idea looks sweet.

By Julz711 (Julz711) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 06:03 pm: Edit

Next year's (senior year, wow!) schedule:

AP English Comp
AP English Lit
AP World History
AP Calc AB
Wind Ensemble (not sure whether I'll take it for honors credit or not)
History of Western Thought (honors)
Independant English study (I'm actually going to try and do something productive with this, like writing comparative lit-type papers...)

Those're all the APs I can take without taking a science, which takes up 2 periods (and I'd have to drop something I really don't want to), or an extra math (and I'd shoot myself if I did).

By Jordana (Jordana) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 09:30 pm: Edit

well to the original poster AP chem is hard, but not too bad. I am taking AP U.S. history this year..I think it is pretty hard, but not too bad. I heard that the U.S. history AP exam is the hardest one to take. I dont really know about the english one, sorry. I just got my course selection sheet, but I am not too sure what i want to take yet....so here is just some thoughts........
Junior year
AP English and Lit.
AP world history
either AP chem. Ap Bio. or Physics(H)
Latin III
Advance Algi. w/ trig.
Class Piano III
I have room in my schedule for one more class i dont know which one I want to take though. it will either be..
1. doubling up in science and taking two of the classes I listed above..by the way I doubled up this year and took chem and bio.
2. doubling up in math and taking AP Statistics.
3. taking some sort of a computer class..I need a tech. ed credit to graduate. :(

I envy all of you who get to take Japanese...I would love to take that. I lived in Japan for 4 years(military brat)...I didn't really learn much though....;)

By Sirhcv (Sirhcv) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 04:20 pm: Edit

^^Im going to be a senior btw^^ but yea Im really looking forward to Chem Research now that i can finally get beyond just plain class room learning and do something real. The proffessor im doing it with got her (along with some students) research published recently. I feel so lucky :-p

By Solidus (Solidus) on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 - 11:49 pm: Edit

IB sucks soooo much. I want to take
Calculus BC (which would be equivalent to
Calculus I & II), but they're going to make me take IB Calculus which might not even give Calculus I credit. Eghhhh! Pitiful! :)

By Conker (Conker) on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 - 06:57 am: Edit

"Yeah, I know, easy course load."

Your pitiful attempts at ingratiating yourself are not appreciated.

By Sopranosweety6 (Sopranosweety6) on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 - 02:18 pm: Edit

AP Chem
Calculus H
AP US History II
AP French IV
English IV H
Lifestyles
World Religions

I was gonna take AP English and AP calc as well but AP English this year was BAD...very bad! As for the calc, I'm a good student when it comes to math but I don't really enjoy it nor do I have a high 90s average like most of the girls going into AP calc. Oh well, I think my course load will be fun and challenging. I wish I had room for psych and Modern World History...maybe in college!

By Korey (Korey) on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 - 05:28 pm: Edit

I changed my mind a bit...Here's my new course selections:

Accelerated English III
AP US History
Advanced Algebra/Pre-Calculus
Chemistry II
Physics
Drawing/Painting
Mythology/Personal Finance

Again, that might change, but who knows...hehe

By Foundnemo (Foundnemo) on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 - 05:56 pm: Edit

AP French Language
AP Stats
AP Euro
AP Physics C
chorus
english

I have no idea what electives I should choose ... any suggestions? I'm going to be a senior.

By Solidus (Solidus) on Thursday, March 18, 2004 - 04:17 pm: Edit

Uhh..no, ingratiating myself was not my intention. I'm just expressing my frustration concerning taking Calculus thorugh IB Calculus and not getting any college credit, as I would wih AP Calculus. The students at this website are accelerated and the majoriy take AP Calculus in high school. It's common and not something I would use to "ingratiate" myself with. Strange comment......
