By Sam255 (Sam255) on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 - 11:01 am: Edit

I was wondering what all the soph's(class of '06) were taking for classes next year. I'll start by posting what i plan to take, and how many credits they are. my school uses block schedualing, 4 80min classes each day, every other day.(btw, my school has 3 levels of most classes: academic, college prep, and accelerated; accel being the hardest, the equiv. of honours classes.)

Pre cal----1 cred
german 3---1 cred
AP us history---1 cred
accel Chemistry---1.5 cred
accel Physics---1.5 cred
AP english---1 cred
AP art history--1 cred
and maybe psycology-.5 cred &photography-.5 cred. (both single semester courses.)

that scheduale leaves me with no lunches, but im usually not hungry for school food anyways, plus we get out of school @ 1:50, so i can eat when i have after school activities.
any comments? suggestions? i'd like to see what you all are taking also.

thumper, ur child doesn't sound so bright. they should be taking at least 2 ap courses by their junior year.

By Candi1657 (Candi1657) on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 03:32 pm: Edit

Bionuker- What an ignorant thing to say! You don't know what school her child attends, how may AP's they offer, and even if she is allowed to take them yet. Furthermore, you don't know her child. You're a jerk.

By Jordana (Jordana) on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 04:25 pm: Edit

exactly that is a horrible thing to say. Just because someone doesn't take AP's doesn't mean they aren't bright. To me it is brighter not to take a class you dont think is right for you instead of taking something just because someones say you should. There is no set classes you should be taking anyway. The only people who take 7 AP's are on this board. Everyone at my school who knows i am taking 4 next year think i am insane. Which they are probaley right, but i know that i can handle it. Besides a lot of schools dont offer AP classes.

By Varr (Varr) on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 04:57 pm: Edit

Hmm I don’t know I might be moving to Toledo Ohio, this summer( dad's getting promoted) but If i stay here (Mexico, where no AP’s nor Honors are offered)

then my class schedule would look like this:
These are for all year long, some are taken on the first semester and some only in the second, and many on both.

Junior schedule:

1 Pre Calculus
2 English *
3 Philosophy
4 Psychology*
5 History of Mexico/ Social Strategies of Mexico
6 Physics *
7 Literature
8 Health Science *
9 Ecology *
10 Society and the Individual*
11 Religion (Catholic)
12 Social Participation
13 Problem solving *
14 Phys Ed *
15 French 3 and 4
16 Spanish

THE ONES WITH THE * ARE THE ONES TAKEN IN ENGLISH.

By Korey (Korey) on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 07:48 pm: Edit

yeh....bionuker...that really is ignorant...my school is #3 in the state...but it only offers 4 AP classes TOTAL...1 in the junior year and 3 in the sophomore year...we had AP Physics and AP Chemistry, but there wasn't a high turn-out for that, so they dropped it...i mean...our school has only like 450 9-12...so you can't be making comments like that without knowing crap...to make it even worse...my school is a MAGNET school with ONLY 4 APs...more than half those kids will NEVER take an AP class

By Akatsukiryuukam (Akatsukiryuukam) on Thursday, February 19, 2004 - 10:06 pm: Edit

oh yeh, no honors as well (except 1), lol

well...my soph schedule is like this (sucks, I know):

-Latin II
-Intro to Tech
-World History
-Physics I
-10th Lit (or English II, <--that's a 2, not an 11)
-Chemistry I
-Algebra II

everyone in my school says WOW to my schedule...that's how sad it is...i mean...it's just physics and chemistry...doesn't compare to anything of ya'lls...

"thumper, ur child doesn't sound so bright. they should be taking at least 2 ap courses by their junior year."

Bionuker, you don't sound very smart. You're only taking 2 AP courses? Everyone knows that you're supposed to fill up your schedule with AP courses by your Junior year!

I know that some of you are going to take my post seriously and worry yourselves to death, so I better post this warning message first. :)

By Amack1988 (Amack1988) on Monday, March 08, 2004 - 07:22 pm: Edit

AP Bio
Adv. Algebra II/Trig

American Studies 10
Lit/Comp 10 (English)

CAD 1 or (maybe) an art

So, I am only taking one AP, but I really don't think I could take more as they only let about 15-20 Sophmores a year (out of nearly 600 at my school) take AP English Lang or AP US History

I know, not enough APs...:-/ but there's only so many you can take sophomore year...I'm already taking Spanish online so I can take more AP courses at school. Hopefully it won't ruin my chances for Harvard. *is being an anal retentive idiot again*

By Conker (Conker) on Friday, March 12, 2004 - 03:05 am: Edit

Meandthemoon, I sincerely hope you are joking. This is a post for sophomores entering their Junior year. The fact that you're already taking 3 APs in 10th grade is incredible and may prove infeasible as you progress through your sophomore year (unless you have special talent in history). There's one kid in my school who is taking AP English Language and AP English Literature, as well as AP Econ in his sophomore year but only because he has special talent in writing.

I really like history..I get 100s on my AP Human Geography test with very little effort. *modest*
I just hope its enough, considering the schools I'm looking at...Harvard in particular. This year's valedictorian (who is totally HOT!!!*cough*) got into Harvard..he's taking 6 APs this year, got a perfect score on the ACTs, 1570 on SATs, he's president of a ridiculous amount of clubs...

So if HE's typical Harvard material, then I have a lot to live up to.

I think I'm being an anal retentive idiot again :-D
