just curious:
why do most people consider junior year to be the hardest year in high school. Is it because of SAT? courseload? anything?
I am a sophomore right now, I consider myself to be under a tremendous amount of pressure. I am working very hard to get a good score on the next PSAT. Besides sleep and eat, I study.
any input would be appreciated.

i'm a freshman, but a lot of my older friends have told me sophmore year is the hardest (at least at my school) because that's the year when you're really adjusting to taking very difficult classes like APs. after that it gets a little easier just because you're used to it, though i bet senior year is fricken crazy!

For me, a junior, sophomore year was a breeze (or should I say "zephyr?" Haha- oh, those SAT wordlists). Sure, being a sophomore had its downs, but it was mostly pretty easy, and everything was at least do-able. However junior year, I am working my behind off (for lack of a better adage) to get a 3.8. I think it has to do with junior year being the most heavily scrutinized year by college adcoms. Also, the SAT and SAT IIs don't help to ease that stress at all. However, I am taking more interesting classes, and am being challenged by them, which I actually enjoy. Just my 2 cents.
P.S.- I go to a very competitive public high school in Northern Claifornia (I don't know if that matters, but whatever).

which one, if you don't mind my asking? I'm interested to see what people think very competitive is.
I go to Miramonte, which some people make a big deal out of, and others (myself included) not so much.
Oh, about the issue at hand, I think junior year usually entails a much heavier courseload for most people, SATs are more threatening and important than the PSATs, and college is becoming more of a looming reality for people.

Jr year is alot less fun then the other years because you have to do a lot more work and a lot of people are telling you, "this is the year that matters" so you have all of that stresd added on to you. Enjoy being a soph, its so much easier. And relax, if you dont youll be so stressed Jr year.

Dschnapps- Hey, I know some people who go to Miramonte! I go to Piedmont High. Some people don't consider it very competitive, but for public schools in the Bay Area, I do. I wouldn't make a "big deal" out of Miramonte, but I still know that it is very competitive.

Oh that's cool, I row crew with TONS of people from Piedmont. (row for Oakland Strokes)
Let's see,
Shane T.
Johnny (big guy with a beard)
those guys are juniors, and I know a million seniors and sophomores from PHS.
Anyway, I'd say Piedmont is really achievement-oriented but most of the people I know from there are pretty cool.
