I've recently seen a post that upset me to tears. Teen mothers getting sympathy. How come then, murderors dont get sympathy too? How come then drug addicts dont get sympathy too? If someone gets pregnant, okay they are pregnant. Its not poor them, they choose to have sex, they're pregnant, and thats that. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Let them deal with the reaction on their own. Dont try to make it better. Life is not perfect. If they didnt want to get pregnant, they shouldnt have had sex, plain and simple. Just like I know that if i kill someone I will go to jail. If i do not want to go to jail, I will not kill someone. I'm sure if a murderor were on here asking for sympathy, he would simply get bashed, and that would be considered okay. Why then is it not okay to bash someone else who has made a mistake? Dont want to get bashed? Dont make a mistake. Deal with it. People get bashed all the time, they deal, why cant you deal? You cant hide from the world forever

Ok, I'm back and I have time to fully respond. Why does one who has become pregnant garner support and sympathy? It certainly depends on the case, but like the poster on another thread who's pregnant, she's shown responsibility and maturity toward her situation. She is not dumping the problem onto others' lap and she is not causing more problems. She has grown up, taken responsiblilty and is SEEKING HELP. She is not asking for sympathy. If others want to feel sympathetic toward her then so be it.

Murdering is simply not the same as becoming pregnant while a teenager. We could go on and on about whether it's right or wrong or this or that or the other, but in our society, we have been taught that murder is 'bad.' Because of the beliefs instilled in us, we do not feel sympathy toward these people and they'll garner negative feelings from us.

Everyone knows that if they have sex, they'll get pregnant. It's as simple as that. What makes the cases different is the attitude of the mother. The girl seeks help here; I do not call that 'hiding from the world' but sucking it up and seeking help.

Murder. I sincerely believe that those who murder aren't sane. They know that they will go to jail, yes, but for some reason, they get some sort of perverse pleasure from doing so. I don't need to go on and I would hardly compare this to a teen mother asking for help and unwittingly gaining sympathy on the part of others.

If she were responsible she wouldn't have had sex. Murdering is not the same in your eyes because society has taught you that its not. But when you think about it, every action is the same. She should not seek help. She should deal with it on her own and with the sperm donor. Its their problem not the rest of the worlds. No one should have to suffer for the mistake they made.

I could just as easily think that people who have teen sex are not sane...whats the difference? And i find it hard to believe that people who have sex think they are NOT going to get pregnant.

so let me get this straight, when people are having a hard time with something or want to become better in some way, they shouldn't seek help? or if you mess up, you shouldn't seek help for that? sorry to be cliche, but no one's perfect and we all need help sometimes.
