Hi,

I want to know how much, if any, do I need to know about 17th and 18th century European artists and musicians. There seem to be an awful lot of european art history topics from what I'm studying from, and I'm not sure if I need them. People who are informed, please help! I am selfstudying and I feel isolated and lost.

I took AP Euro last year, and I think you only need to know artists because they show up as answers on multiple-choice questions. So, you only need to know basic art stuff (e.g. Monet=impressionism, or Mozart=classicism) to identify the correct answers. I have rarely seen an essay topic on artists or musicians, but you shouldn't waste time studying those people in-depth because there will probably be an essay choice you know more about anyway. For instance, the French Revolution is way more important and is an essay topic on almost every test! Hope this helps.

Just know the major writers/composers/artists of each age, like Beethoven and Romanticism, and Michelangelo-Renaissance. Know what characterizes each style as well and you'll be fine.

Unless, of course, you are ALSO taking Art History :b

(Methinks it may be a bit overkill for me - those two back to back - nappy time!)
