AP Calc with Precalc OR AP Stat with Precalc
This is for Junior year
Which one is more practical and useful?? And also, Any comments on AB and BC calc?
Thanks

Try to take AP Calc. Only take Stat if it's in addition to Calc, or if you are not strong enough for Calc.
Are you talking about doing Precalc and AP Calc simultaneously?

yeah, in both options I am taking two courses in one year.
I'm not sure if I should take choice 1, because I'm going to take ap calculus anyway in senior year, so why rush? Or do the college find it better that i choose choice 1?
Please Help!!
Thanks Texas137 !

I'm not sure I understand the logic to taking precalc and calc simultaneously. If you're so strong in math that you don't need precalc to do well in calc, then why not skip precalc altogether? It's just trig plus a rehash of algebra. Skipping it would let you take multivariable your senior year. Or if you aren't quite that strong in math, maybe it would be better to finish precalc before starting calc.
I don't think colleges are going to care which option you choose. The big thing is to have calculus some time before you graduate. What are you doing about physics? If you plan to take a calculus-based physics course as a senior, that might need to enter into the equation.

only take BC if AB wasnt stressful or hard

math this year is the last year of sequential math. I am programmed for Precalc next year, and I have to choice to take Calc at the same time also.
But here are my thoughts:
- Why bother to take precalc and clac at the same time when I can take calc in senior year? I can just take precalc and stat, which would be easier, in junior year.
- What good will it do if i take precalc and calc together in junior year anyway? As long as i take calc senior year, it will be the same, right?
Please give answers to my thoughts if you can, and give comments on what choice i should choose.
Thanks a lot to those who helped ! !

It's the same for most colleges, unless you want to try to squeeze in something beyond calculus, like multivariable or linear alg. If you don't think you would do that, than precalc/stat junior year and calc (BC is better) senior year would make the most sense.
If you plan to apply ED to MIT/Caltech that would be an exception. They are particularly interested in calculus, and seniors taking it would not have 1st semester grades in time for ED. A good grade in the course or a good score on the AP calculus exam at the end of junior year might help you with admissions.
