I turned 17 this spring and just got my license this summer. I took the test w/o a drivers ed class and guessed like a mofo. Passed by one question (the test is hard as hell). I'm supposed to be doing "home-school" drivers ed but we didnt do sh_t. My dad lied on the time sheet.

By Mazzo (Mazzo) on Monday, July 14, 2003 - 01:51 pm: Edit

wow. thats the thing thats killing me, that stupid time sheet. in MD we have to have 40 hours of driving with a parent. ive only done 10. i did drivers ed last year at school but forgot pretty much everything.

Haha...wow, I guess time requirements over in Jersey are pretty lenient. To get a permit you only need about 6 hours behind the wheel and I don't believe there's a requirement to get your license. All you have to do is get your permit and on the date of your road test, pass it. That's it. As long as you have the permit and pass the test, you get your license. In fact...I'm getting my license tomorrow (God willing). WISH ME LUCK!

good luck crnchycereal

I don't..I've had my permit for over 2 years now...I'll be 17 and a half in august (wooo..go Half-birthdays!)

Texas is even more lenient. To get a permit, you do have to have some hours, or take a drivers ed. class and pass a really easy driving rules test, but to get your license, you either have to be 16 or have your permit for 6 months, whichever one comes later (you can get your permit at 15), and then go into the DPS and sign a piece of paper and you have it. There's no driving test or anything, that's probaby why there are so many stupid drivers everywhere here.

In Ohio its pretty lenient. Go take a short test to get ur permit. Then do the 24 hours of drivers ed and drive with the instructor for 8 hours. I guess ur supposed to have like 24 hours behind the wheel with a parent but i had less than 10 and lied on the sheet. I got my license the day i turned 16 which was really cool. 18 months ago today actually.

How do your guys permits/licencses look? like 3 months after i got my licence the state made them longways for kids under 21 so they cant buy alcohol. but mine is still the old way, which is wide. its red but if ur over 21 its black. (but like this is goin to stop kids from buyin')

I have my permit... I get my license mid-November... and it's definitely a good thing I don't have my license because I'm SO not ready for it. LOL.

U have to be 17 to get your license in Jersey, so yea there's a lot of ppl over 16 w/o licenses here.

Live in Jersey:

Turn 17 in August. Haven't driven since February 25th! (last day of drivers ed.) I have to start driving soon...

In CA, you have to take a driver's ed class, take a permit test, wait at least 6 months before taking your driving test, and during those 6 months you have to have 6 hours of driving with an instructor and 50 hours with your parent--10 at night, 40 during the day. I'm getting my license wednesday =D

Driving still freaks me out, especially at night. Sometimes I kind of forget my brake is there too...:/ But, I haven't had a near-accident since June, so driving in itself is looking up.

I still don't drive on the highway at all though, because I still have to master things like switching lanes and taking turns and stuff.

i'm several months over 17 and i don't even have my permit yet. my parents don't want to pay for driver's ed and they don't offer it at schools where i live (los angeles).

and they're like "if you don't have a car then why do you need a license?"

ahhhh!

I'm 16 1/2 and I don't have my permit yet. I live in Sue Jersey, so car insurance is insanely expensive. I have a car, but I have to pay for insurance, so that's what has stalled me driving.

Crnchycereal, how was the test? I'm heading over to DMV for mine in about a month...

It's the easiest thing you'll ever do. Trust me, you'll be nervous as hell when you start off, but only an idiot could fail this thing. Plus, it didn't hurt that my evaluator was this cynical, apathetic guy that was like, "Yeah, whatever. Hit the curb, I don't care."

By Beck86nj (Beck86nj) on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 - 01:02 pm: Edit

lol thats great

Driving kind of scares me... only because my driving results in people's lives to flash before their eyes. Luckily, I did *not* hit anything today, I used ALL of the mirrors and I remembered not to slam on the gas so hard this time.

The next scary thing that I must master is highway driving :/

Only *3.5* months till license time...:)

By Beck86nj (Beck86nj) on Thursday, July 17, 2003 - 08:15 am: Edit

25 days and counting till license...
