Hey guys
*Does an internship at the hospital look good on your college application?--Even though I don't really do anything because i am up in the operating room and i am just allowed to observe..Would this count as work experience because after all it is an internship?--I get to do tiny tasks such as move the beds and monitor the heart rate. I also have to listen carefully to the doctors.

*Second Question--Will volunteering at the library count as work experience--do you think i have a good shot at getting a job at a book store b/c i shelved books, etc

*Third Question--How do i gain leadership..without elections..b/c in our school the popular people are the ones that always win everything even if they have never done anything in the club! :( it sucks..I have had leadership experiences but not with an offical title (Pres, secretary, etc) At the library i help lead the kids during the children programs..i give them supplies, teach them how to do certain things like decode messages, cats cradle, write haikus, etc...I am a Student council senator..in keyclub i read to little kids...But how do i go about explaining that on an application

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!

1. An internship looks good if it will relate to your future career choice. But nevertheless, it shows that you are exploring your options. I don't know if it could be counted as work experience. Did you get paid for it? If not, it's either internship or volunteer.

2. Well, it might not count as work experience because you don't get paid for it...it's volunteer experience. I think this can be a plus when applying at a bookstore.

3. I don't know how you can gain leadership status without being elected. But it's what you do that counts, not the title. So, if you end up doing better than the president, you will be better off in college admissions.

Hope I helped. Good luck!

leadership status without being elected....START SOMETHING! Then you are automatically founder and leader! Your experiences are more leadership than many official positions. There is a lot of room on college apps. Explain away!
