How do I go about submitting a non-fiction book for publishing? The book is a how-to book, so the manuscript isn't long, it's just the layout, content and pictures that make it unique. Should I have a copy of each page?? Somebody help me?

I have no idea how to get published. In fact, I want to get started on my own book but I think even if it doesn't get published, it's still worth it because I will have put so much effort to that finished product.

hey, guess what? I figured out that this wasn't a writing forum! But there seem to be some very intelligent, motivated people here. I thought someone might be able to point me in the right direction. Odd are somebody might have experience with this. Apparently I was mistaken.

goneinfivemin-

don't take rude comments personally. some ppl here sit on their high horses (their high SAT scores) and suddenly feel that they are better than everyone else here and can spout off rude comments. (Well here is one from me.) Those people are probably complete nerds, somewhat ostracized at school, eatting lunch alone and in the corner of the library. Here is their chance to belittle others.

good luck w/ your book. wish i had some advice.

Get a copy of THE WRITER'S MARKET. There are more publishers than you can believe but trying to identify the appopriate publishers for a given work, particularly if it's quirky, can be difficult.

It has gotten so bad that many of the first-tier publisher will not submit submissions "over the transom," i.e., unsolicited manuscripts directly from a writer, but only agented manuscripts instead...so the job then becomes finding a suitable agent. The problem with this task is that agents who are really really good will not likely take on a new client without a track record and, at best, foist you off on an unproven assistant. The agents who will readily take you on will tend to be young and inexperienced...there's a very narrow zone of agents in between.

RUN, do not walk, away from any agent who wants to charge you a reading fee to assess your work. Ignore all the yada yada about how they need to justify their time.
