I would like to graduate early, but I am worried that it would decrease my chances of getting accepted into my first choice college; St. John's, Annapolis. Please give me your opinion.

instead of graduating early, just take more advanced classes your senior year. In high school, i don't see any reason to skip a grade.

Please post your stats so we can informally gauge your chances at the universities you specified. Some kids in my school graduated early after meeting all the graduation requirements (of 4 years English, 3 less years for the rest). I think she took summer courses for English.

Yellow5, I'm considering graduating next year(jr. year) as well. I'm worried about my college acceptance chances being minimal too.(I'm applying to HYPSM.) You see, next year is my 'big' year for the app. I'm pres. of four clubs, etc. I'll be taking four ap, one H. It's my year to 'shine' so to speak for my application. I don't really know what to do either.... I don't really want to stay in my hell hole boring high school though. Heh.

I can relate Thep, I know that I could spend my senior year picking up AP credits, but, frankly, I'd rather get my college credits in college. Anyway, here are my stats:
At the end of my junior year, I'll have 4 English credits, 3 Social Studies credits, 4 math credits, 3 Science credits, and 6 language credits (in french & latin).
SAT--V680 M640
GPA--4.0
Sports: varsity swimming, varsity tennis
Clubs: Key Club (pres.), Academic Team, Latin Club

I'm sure if we pull off good essays and recs and look 'determined' or whatever, we'd get in anyway. Well hopefully....
Here are my stats:
psat: V64 M63 W70
SAT II: Writing 660, Math IC 690
gpa: 4.0
sports: nothing!
ecs:
academic decathlon- pres/cap
band- drum major, 1st chair clarinet
drama- actor
india abroad- pres.
journalism- editor in chief
jsa- debator
literary magazine- editor in chief
math team- top scorer
I'll have four ap completed at the end of junior year. Three more if I go through senior year. I'm trying to finagle an independent study AP Lit(sr. ap eng. class), but I may not get it....

Yellow5--my son went early to St. John's. There didn't seem much point in taking AP's that weren't going to be credited. Send in the application and see what happens. Someone else tried this and was accepted with a deferral until they finished high school. I think every case is different but in such a small college every application is looked at carefully. I might even give admissions a call and see what they say. It may be tougher to do now because the number of applications is way up. However, it can't hurt to try and the application process doesn't cost a thing except your time. Good luck--it's a great school.

Ah, yes. India Abroad is my school's version of Asian Club. The only Asians we really have are Indians. It's an ethnic club, so to speak. I was automatically elected pres. because everyone loves my cousin who has since graduated. Hehe. Connections are nice. It's a filler club, if that's what you're inquiring about. I don't really know what they meant by the 'abroad' when they named it. Most of us aren't NRIs.....

Hi well im new to all this and am looking for advice on graduating early. Now Im not exactly sure if thats a possibility for me but I would really appreciate it if you would read on and respond and tell me if i have a chance or what to do to get a chance. Well im on the RECOMENDED plan at my high school and ive NEVER done any AP classes..im not the president of any club .. i have A's and B's and Im just not a perfect student. I am wanting to graduate next year (11th grade) to get a head start on college. Im going to attend a community college and work my way up. I plan on working as a tech at a psychiatric hospital while im studying to be a psych nurse. These are my plans and I just want to know if i have a chance at graduating early. If so .. what do i need to do...
Thanks
