I just got into an early entrance program for high students, so I get to start taking college classes two years early. The program doesn’t have a set-in-stone curriculum ( I just need to met the state requirements) so I would like to start taking classes that would count towards my intended major instead of sitting in Calc 3 (which I’m not at all interested in) just so I will have four “years” of the core classes. I realize that wherever I go to college I’ll need to take some basic classes in all areas and I’m willing to do that, but do I really need to take more then that if the classes wouldn’t even be required by my major? If I didn’t take them would it hurt my chances of getting into a good school? -So basically what all this leads to is I’m asking if college semester credits count as “years” in a course.

Sure but watch out for setting yourself on a certain major to early in your academic experience. I am a high school junior and the few things that I would have said I was sure about pursuing in college last year are not so clear to me any more.
