Take it to your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist about powder vs. swallow the whole thing.

BTW - you might want to know about SVT (supra-ventricular tachycardia). It's a common condition where the heart suddenly starts beating too fast. It's possible for it to beat so fast that you can pass out. It's frequently brought on by cardiac stimulants - including caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, stress, and certain decongestants. It's frightening, and people who have it frequently end up in the emergency room thinking they're having a heart attack (they aren't). The classic scenario for it is a college student drinking coffee and popping caffeine pills pulling "all-nighters" during exams.

Go to the D&E page for caffeine products:

All of the ones listed are described as "capsules" or "tablets", which means you swallow them. Words like "sprinkles" would mean you open it up and shake out the contents. Opening up the capsule is not the most common way to administer, and it would probably be made VERY clear on the packaging if that is intended.

Why don't you try dropping one in a glass of water and conducting a test? If it's meant to be swallowed, it should dissolve in the water. If it's plastic, it won't.
