Non-School Related:
-Voice lessons
-Piano lessons
-Independent Japanese study
-Soccer (only house league during spring and fall)

My primary interest is the vocal arts (I attend a performing arts high school), but I know it's a somewhat unrealistic expectation to end up at the Met . . . :-P

School Activities: (i'm a Sophomore)

* California Scholarship Federation
* Retreat Leader
* Multicultural Committee
* Newspaper
* Actor in Theater Company
* Will be Junior Class Secretary in next year's Student Council

Planning to start a Junior Statesmen of America Chapter at my school for next year! Going to try my best to make it happen! I go to a small all girls Catholic school, and there aren't as much a variety of activities and clubs as a bigger public school...especially politics-related organizations, and politics is my passion, and i know lots of people that would be interested. I just need the faculty's support now

Outside of school:
*I've been volunteering for the past three years as a Sunday School teacher at my Parish. (i teach 4-5 year olds)
* Dance: I do not do seriously, but i still practice and take classes a lot. I'm pretty advanced in jazz, hip hop, and ballet especially.

Summer:
will study Politics/Economics and War in World History at a program at Oxford Univ in England this summer!
Service-wise, i've always wanted to teach Dance to young kids at a battered wives and children's center or something. i really want to do somethin of that nature this summer.

Passionately/not just on paper:
* Dramatics (Technical, Acting)
* Journalism (editor next year -- just like everyone else)
* Interact/Rotaract (yay for positions)
* JSA (done more than leadership says I have)
* Volunteering @ local soup kitchen consistantly for 2 years+; high school liaison now

Mostly on paper, passive involvement:
* FBLA
* NHS (not much of a club...)

Not much around, not much support for starting clubs and things, not generally much support at all, academically or otherwise... But that's another rant altogether. 9_9

"shiloh gray, would you mind listings approximately how much you actually spend in your 15 clubs and organizations. In my school the people in mock trial spend at least 5 and often 20 hours a week just on that."

Hmm...let me estimate for sophomore year...

*AmnInt'l.: 1/1, we did absolutely nothing this whole year, and only had a few meetings (hey, one of the Co-Pres. is going to Yale, and the other got a full scholarship offer to NYU, but declined). These are in HOURS:

*Art Club: 2/2, we only had meetings and ONE event other than that, which I was unable to perticipate in

*Nat'l. Beta Club: NA

*Drama Club: 20/20, we had one production, and all the time added up

*Interact: 2/4,I preticipated in many meetings, but was on able to go to the local elderly home the few times they went.

*Key Club: 2/4,I attended most meetings, but I really didn't get too involved because I only had one friend, yet she didn't want to do anything (and she was voted V.P.)

*Latin Club 3/4" I attended the manditory meetings, and the museum field trip we went to.

*Literary Magazine: 1/1.5, I submitted my work, and attended only a few meetings, the ones that I was able to attend

*Mock Trial: 80/80:guess that's how many hours, it was like a very very demanding club, and I was always there. How I HATE law...

*Model U.N.: 1/5 I attended important meetings, but was unable to go to the two trips to the college because the buses came back exactly when the school buses pulled off, and I had no rides, but who the hell cares, cause I gave my dues!!

*Nat'l. Honor Society: NA

*Voices of Culture: 4/6, we had one play, which I choose not to be apart of because of the roles offered to me

*WeServe: 3/3, I was there for everything, though the club basically ended after 1st semester

*Yearbook Staff: 600/600 it was a class, and half the time we did nothing, but I was always there when I could be. Boy was THAT a pain in the ass...

*Thespian Society: NA

*SGA: NA

*Newspaper Staff: NA

i have a hatred for people who show up to the first 2 meetings, pay their dues, and not bother coming anymore knowing that nobody will take attendance anyways. i hate it when seniors get up there and say they were in Latin Club (or whatnot) and the first thing that comes to my mind is "i've never EVER seen them at a meeting."

if you're going to join a club, AT LEAST TAKE TEH TIME TO GET INVOLVED IN IT. colleges can see right through the people who dont care and only do it to pad their resume. im glad that most people on here seem to know their passions and do stuff for their own pleasure, not to impress colleges. and as for those of you who only go to the "mandatory" meetings, shame on you. lol

My fav. EC's are newspaper, lit. mag, yearbook (I love writing & wanna major in journalism), volunteering, & color guard. I'm also in some others like academic decathelon & math team that I don't really like (but I do actually force myself to attend unlike some other ppl).
