I know essays are almost always important, but I was wondering how important they are at UM. I was looking through the U.S. News Directory and came across something that I had not noticed before. Under "Factors that count in admission" it gives essay a ranking of considered which is the third highest ranking for factors, following very important and important. I was wondering if the essays are really that low or maybe their are just "considered" for in-state students and not out-of-state? Thanks for any responses.
