does it usually matter how many applicants from your school apply to a certain university? there are a lot of people in my school goin EA to stanford and they have pretty competitive stats, does this lower my chances even though my stats are pretty good?

How do you rank compared to the other students? If they rank above you, then yes, it hurts, if they rank below you it's probably less of a big deal.

Students who ranked above my D from the same school did not get into Stanford. Your fellow students are not the ones you have to worry about, it's everyone else with great stats. See a fuller response under "some worries".

p.s. It's really important that people at your school don't start viewing each other as the competition so that if one of you gets in and the others don't, you don't want to blame or hate the other person because of it - coz it won't be their fault. It's even advisable to discuss this out in the open with each other ahead of time so there are no hard feelings later no matter what the results end up.
