Is alcohol a bigger problem on Colby's campus than on other N.E. LAC campuses or has the issue simply gotten more publicity there.

A fair amount of drinking goes on at every college, and alcohol is known to flow pretty freely at small geographically isolated schools like Colby (along with many others, including Bowdoin, Colgate, Dartmouth, and Williams). But I'm not aware that Colby has a more significant problem with alcohol than other similar colleges.

One more thing. Many schools publish their newspapers online. You can get a feel for alcohol-related problems on campus by checking for articles on problem parties, arrests, community complaints, etc. You also may be able to find out about administrative efforts to combat alcohol abuse.
