By Honeysuckle (Honeysuckle) on Sunday, October 03, 2004 - 03:25 am: Edit

Can anyone be so kind as to evaluate my chance at Trinity for me?
SATI: 1300
SATII: Writing/ Chemistry/ Biology to be taken soon but should be 700ish

I finished A level in England and got AAC, C in Biology after a totally sleepless night so decided to take SATII Biology to make up for it.

My school does not rank.

ECs:
- Piano for 11 years, got the certificate from London School of Music and Media
- Aerobics for 12 years
- French club
- Volunteer fr Oxfam 4 hours/ week
- A partime job: 12 hrs/ week
- Global Young Leaders Conference nominee
- Ia m currently taking a gap year in my Asian home country. I teach English, take French class and dancing lessons.

Awards:
- The first comer in the entrance exam into my high school
-The second prize in the municipal English gifted contest of my city.
- Silver and Gold certificate from The UK Senior Maths Challenge
-The most promising student at my school in England

I am aware that the application pool to trinity is very keen, but what sort of applicant does the school want? Do I have any shot? Especially I want to know about the finaid policy of Trinity to internl students.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Honeysuckle, you look like you have a great chance at Trinity for a number of reasons - your SAT's are in the ballpark, you have substantial community service - Trinity is very keen on that these days as they have revbuilt a large area of Hartford surrounding the school with Boys and Girls Clubs, performing arts and music programs for inner city youth, etc. and many of the students wealk across the street and volunteer there. You music background is an additional plus as Trinity has a strong voice, performance arts, and dance department for a small LAC. And it sounds a though you are a minority - Trinity has purposefully set out the last few years to diversify it's student body to include more minorities, public school students, community service-focused kids. They also have very generous with merit aid - and it's a beautiful campus! My D 's background sounds similar to you and she's having the time of her life there! So give it go!
