how hard is it to get into berkeley as a freshman engineering major?

By Hwtf (Hwtf) on Sunday, October 03, 2004 - 06:26 am: Edit

its more difficult than L+S, but obviously not impossible. eecs, bioe, and engineering undeclared are more difficult to get into than the rest of the majors, but that does not mean that the other engineering majors are easy to get into.

on average, the scores are much higher than l+s. math2c should also be taken if you want to be an engineer. if you have any other questions, feel free to ask

thanks for the info. well, here r some more questions:
if i get in as a L+S major, will it be possible for me to switch to engineering once im at berkeley, or is engineering pretty much locked up/impossible to transfer into by then?
also, is 740 good enough on the math 2c for engineering?
thanks

its possible but its also difficult. you have to have a high gpa, which is pretty hard to do with lower division engineering requirements.

740 is good but if you have another shot, go ahead and retake it

ok, so i DO stand a chance at 740?
what score is good on the sat 1??

By Hwtf (Hwtf) on Tuesday, October 05, 2004 - 12:37 am: Edit

700+ on math and science tests is good. but even scores cannot guarantee admission...

ohhh what major? engineering probably huh? how do u like it there?

By Hwtf (Hwtf) on Thursday, October 07, 2004 - 01:48 pm: Edit

general engineering, which means i can choose any engineering major with an application. im thinking about eecs, but i'll wait until i have to declare. its good here, but of course classes are hard
