uh-oh...do we really need 3 teacher recs? I just saw this on the teacher rec form...how many is everyone else getting?

Yeah, I'm confused about this too... do we need 2 teacher recs and one counselor rec, or what?

bump!

and is it bad to get 3 teacher recs even if only 2 are required?

By Dressagechick (Dressagechick) on Friday, October 01, 2004 - 01:56 pm: Edit

what?? I thought we only needed one teacher rec!!

By Babybird87 (Babybird87) on Friday, October 01, 2004 - 04:50 pm: Edit

it says on the form itself get one from a science/math teacher, one from a foreign language/linguistics teacher, and one from a teacher of your choice.

It wasn't really a problem-- I got my English Honors teacher, my AP Chem teacher, and my Spanish IB teacher.

Uhh. That's for the different SCHOOLS. If you are applying to COL (and you are) you need whatever it says..

MSB: Math/Science (I think)
SFS: Teacher of Choice
COL: Foreign Language, or Language/History, maybe
and .. NHS: Science

I think I got that right. Makes sense.. associated with the different schools.

Yep, Tlaktan's right. You look at the school you're applying to and get a rec from the listed teacher, and then you get one from your counselor. That's it!

ONE REC!

By Babybird87 (Babybird87) on Friday, October 01, 2004 - 08:32 pm: Edit

Oh, my, God. Are you kidding me?

I've given this form out to three teachers. What do I do now?

Tlaktan, are you saying that only one recommendation is required?

By Tlaktan (Tlaktan) on Saturday, October 02, 2004 - 01:56 am: Edit

Three recs can't HURT.. I'm getting three + 1 additional.. 1 for ROTC, 1 from Social Studies Chair and 1 from English Teacher..

Yes BB, that's exactly what I'm trying to say.

By Babybird87 (Babybird87) on Saturday, October 02, 2004 - 03:05 pm: Edit

but we can give in as many as we want, right?

I don't want to have to go back and tell them to not do it.

You only need one. For the College, a foreign language teacher if you are applying for a language program, a science or math teacher for pre med, the nursing school, or a science major, for anything else a teacher of your choice. For buisness, math or social studies, and for SFS any teacher. The application says get one recommendation.

I need to send in 2 recs cuz I'm majoring in Spanish and am going to be pre-med. I've heard from a lot of schools that they don't want to see more than 3 recs.
