Hey, I'm a bit worried about the interview after hearing how the stereotypical gtown student is "a preppy kid with a popped collared shirt." I am most certainly NOT going into my interview with a collared shirt or preppy attire, but rather what I would call my usual hippie style. Also, one of my favorite experiences was protesting at the Republican National Convention but I'm not sure if I should mention this at my interview even though I am very passionate about it. Would a liberal hippie talking about protesting the RNC be a turn off to the alumnus interviewer, or would my untraditional views be an asset for gtown political diversity? i would like to add that i am in now way narrow-minded in my opinions and have great respect for other views. In fact, one of the reasons I want to go to Georgetown is that it seems more conservative than other colleges - i don't want to go someplace where everybody is ultra-liberal because it makes for much less interesting discussions.

You will definitely get a mix of people here. There are more liberals and Democrats (don't want to get the two mixed up) than you would probably think there are. There are also plenty of "liberal" preppies who popp their collars the same as everyone else. I'm siding with you because I'm definitely on the liberal side and the preppy look is not my bag of chips. My advice to you would be to get to know the interviewer a little bit before spouting extravagant extra-curricular activities. If your interviewer seems laid back, they will probably take your untraditional views as interesting and as an asset to Georgetown. I think that you sound like a great person. Let us know how things progress throughout the year. Good luck!

concearned about mentioning your liberal politics, are you kidding me? Universities are generally regarded as beacons of left wing extremism. I wouldn't be surprised if your interviewer was at the RNC protest too.

There are more kids in the College Democrats than in the College Republicans. It was a figure given in the last Hoya. It's not a significant margin, but it's there.

DC is a pretty liberal place, too.
