I know Washington University in St. Louis is an awesome top notch "Hidden Ivy" but how well do students do once they leave the place? Does anybody know what their acceptance rates into Medical Schools are? Is their Pre-medicine program really good? I got in, but I really need these stats to convince the parental units. Also, what are the main reasons that I should go to the school? I got into Vanderbilt, Emory, and Rhodes..is Wash U. better than all of those?

Yeah! I am so excited that I actually get to dispense some information for a change. I just happen to have a daughter who attends Vanderbilt and is a (pre-med) Cellular and Molecular Biology Major. She has one more year to complete. Her boyfriends just happens to have completed his second year of Med School. They were just talking about this topic recently. Knowing what they both know now, they would have attended Washington University in a heartbeat without a doubt. I really tried to get my daughter to take a look at Wash U several years ago, but you know how young people can be. My daughter didn't take the time to investigate before she settled on Vanderbilt. Their praise of Wash U had something to do with them being able to complete some type of program in 6 years. Also, my daughter and her other pre-med friends wish that they had more solid advisement and support from their fom their faculty advisors. Vanderbilt is an excellent school. You will definitely receive a fine quality education there. Vandy has also been "very" generous to us! Gosh We love that school, but if I were you, I wouldn't think twice about selecting Wash U for pre-med. What I know about Emory are comments received from several respected doctors who said that they preferred Wash U vs Emory when my daughter was trying to decide between Vandy and Emory several years ago. Best Wishes and good luck on your decision!

well i hear that WUSTL students with a 3.5 GPA or higher have a 90% acceptance rate into med school. WUSTL students with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.5 have a 50% acceptance rate into med school.
