hello people.

i've alway dreamed about MIT,
but currently, to face the reality, it seems to be impossible ..

well i have pretty strong ECs and somewhat good at science and math and art(^_^).. here is a list
Captain of Academic Team
President of Mu Alpha Theta
President of Straight And Gay Alliance
co-founder of the art club in my HS
a director in non-profit (religious) organization(a lot of volunteering hours)
Video Production, Drama, Photograph, and computer(graphic design) are my other interests
i was also a historian in FBLA, oh and won first place in district business math compeition(i could advance to state level, but at that time, i didnt know that and FBLA teacher didnt even tell me.. arr.) and website committee head in drama and some other stuffs

oh my god, i didnt know i was doing that much -0- i really love them all from my heart
oh i lauched my design-video production company last summer. but it didnt produce any shocking product or breaking through video (but rather, get me some bucks -0-)

anyway.. as score wise, i got 800 on SAT2 math 2c, 760 on SAT2 physics, 4 on AP physics B(i selfstudied).. and 3 on AP USHIS.
i think i will get at least 750 on math, perhaps 800 if i feel really good at that morning ^_^

i took the hardest classes my school offers, but my school doesnt offer many hard classes -0-
junior = AP US HIS, BIO HONORS, ENGLISH 3, TRIGEOMETRY, ALGEBRA2 HONORS, PHYSICS1 HONORS, PHYSICS 2 HONORS
senior(now) = AP CALC AB, Am. Govt. HONORS, ECONOMICS HONORS. and independent study (i am preping AP BIOLOGY but it wont show on my transcritpt - my school doesnt have AP biology class)
senior(later this year) = ENGISH 4 HONORS, HEALTH(graduation requirement), Teacher's Assistance

however my english is really bad.
i came over america 3-4 years ago, and had ESL until my 10th.
i had regular english 3 on 11th. i am going to be in english 4 honors.
my my sat verbal will be .. doomed. although i am preparing for SAT verbal, i think i can get only somewhere low 600. (avg. practice test was about 560)

i went an information session and MIT representative said 650+ on SAT verbal is pretty needed.. .

although i have alot of EC and leadership position, i did win neither any super ultra award, nor a big competition.

what should i do??
do i have any good chance(perhaps not T_T) at MIT??
i want to do bioengineering/physics..

MIT representative told me 'major on the application' doesn't do anything with acceptance.. so i guess my intended major doesnt really matter..

would it be wasting time and money to apply MIT??
any comments(negative,positive..) will be welcomed !!

in addition, i am attending -not good- public high school in florida, and i was adopted (a reason i came America).. And i am asian male.

ur stats r impressive...
well, lets see, depending on where u r from, u will have different competition. (i.e. nyc has more schools=more applicants=more competition). ECs wise, u r set.
scores-wise, let's see, ur math definitely is good, so i think it will cover up 4 ur low verbal. and i think 650 in verbal is the standard 4 regular american students who have had lots of english practice. well, nscores arent everything...if u think u r a good fit 4 the mit community, then apply. just don't regret it.

Does MIT have its own essay questions? If not, the extra time spent wouldn't be that much. The application fee is worth ONLY ONE MEAL at a nice restaurant. When you graduate from MIT, you may be able to dine at nice restaurants everyday.
