Hi. Im an international student and i would like some advice on transfering to the university of michigan. I am current studying at a community college next to umich and i have a gpa of 3.8 for courses in calculus and sciences. Currently sophomore standing. i have a GED instead of a normal high school diploma. i checked with the admissions office and they said it does not matter if its a GED or a normal high schoo diploma as only college level courses are taken into consideration for transfer admissions. what at my chances at transfering. thanks

Which college will you be applying to? Engineering? LSA? Business?
What's your ACT/SAT score? This does not matter as much as it would if you were applying from High School, but it is will still matter.
What Community College do you attend?

I will be applying to the college of engineering. majoring in either mechnical or aerospace engineering. i've have not taken the SATs yet but i should be able to get a score in the 1400-1500 range. if this stats are not good enough, how can i improve my chances of getting in?

I think you have a very reasonable chance, provided you get over a 1350 on your SAT. Your 3.8 GPA in science and math classes will certainly be a very important factor. One of my best friends completed his Freshman and Sophomore years at the Lansing Community College and then trasnfered to Michigan Engineering. He majored in Mechanical. So it is certainly quite common for students to transfer into Michigan. Just be sure to give the SAT your best shot.
Good luck to you.
