I have a question... I've been seeing posts about how a downward trend in grades as your high school career goes on is a negative sign, but I do have a downward trend, and it's because my classes are getting harder and harder.
My school does grades by the semester, so I have two grades for one class- a grade for the first semester, and another grade for the second semester.
Therefore, I had two B's (a b in both first and second semester) for an honors science class in freshman year..
Then one B (a b in the 2nd semester.. i had an A first semester) in an honors english class in sophomore year...
and 4 B's (straight B's first and second semester for two classes) in junior year, in two different ap level courses.
This is a downward trend, but my classes are getting harder and harder... so is this still seen as a downward trend?
With the recalculated GPA, it's a 3.7, but the weighted GPA my school reports is a 3.885.
I have pretty good EC's- they're in another post previous to this one, i think the subject was something like "out of state chances for a double major in lsa and music"... well i'm not double majoring anymore, I'm only applying to LSA-
Do I stand a chance? IS Umich a reach?
I'm still writing and rewriting my essays, but they're crap. no matter how many times i write them, they suck... at UMich, are essays an important factor?
Thanks everyone

Michigan is a match for you, but you have to apply early...like in the next wekk or two. If you do, I would say you have a decent chance of getting in. If you do not apply in the next 2 or 3 weeks, Michigan becomes a reach.

darn...
i had my sat scores scheduled to be sent this past sunday, meaning... it'll be awhile until it actually gets there. second week of october, at the earliest.
meaning my application probably won't be read until mid-october...
so i'm at a reach?
ARGGG why didn't i think of sending my SAT scores any sooner?!
