can anyone tell me the percentages of applicants caltech accepts/defers/rejects in EA, how many people apply EA, how many deferred people get accepted in the second round, stuff like that?

I think that we accept a higher percent during EA than we do during regular, but that's in large part due to the fact that it is a stronger pool. Also, I believe the last few years we've been trying to defer fewer people, because most of them you know if you're going to accept or reject them right away, and it's not fair to string them along. I'm going to go out on a limb and say 18%/5%/77% - these numbers may be entirely false though.
Defer admits during the second round are probably about 1 in 3, though it depends _a lot_ on the year. I used to have the figure for EA applications, but don't off hand. I am going to a UAS meeting tomorrow morning (8am
) so I might get the number there. If I do, I'll pass it along.
