I got a really great feeling from the learning atmosphere at MIT when I visited. What a school!

You definitely should apply if MIT is your top choice. With good recommendations, interview, and essays you will have a shot. MIT EA is very tough though - they defer a lot of people. (I got defered EA with better scores but not as many EC's.) One nice thing about MIT EA is that it's non-bindning and not single-choice, so it doesn't limit your other early applications at all. So, it's definitely worth a try.
