Kk19131, I didn't have my mailing address like what Admitmeplz stated. Last year, I followed this format:
Your Name
Residential College/Hall Name, Rm XXXX
Street Address
Evanston, IL 60201-XXXX (last 4 digits optional)
You do not need to include 'Northwestern University' in your address. The postal mail people already know it's a college campus. I've NEVER had a problem with receiving or sending mail from school.
Remember, most mailing labels only allow two blanks (lines) for the address so keep it concise. Plus, to use "Northwestern University" signifies administrative or official mail. You're a college student. =)
For example (imaginary address),
John C. Smith
Hamilton Res Coll/Hall 0123
1234 College Lane
Evanston, IL 60201
Done.

"In order to ensure the timely delivery of mail or packages, the mailroom requests that you include as much information as possible. Below is a generic template of a well-addressed mail item, followed by a specific example:
Name
Name of Residence Hall, Room Number
Address of Residence Hall
Evanston, IL 60201-[zip+4 code]
Jane Doe
Allison Hall, Room # 1200
1820 Chicago Ave.
Evanston, IL 60201-3865
**DO NOT write "Northwestern University" anywhere in the address as this will cause a delay in delivery.**"
There you go. from the new student week webpage

As I stated earlier. =)
But do keep in mind that the last four digits of your zip code are not mandatory in sending mail. I know I don't use the last four digits of my home zip code whenever I send mail even though I know it.

Thank you both! Desrtswimer, good to see this didn't break out into a debate.

I know it's what you said earlier. I decided this topic had waaaayy too much DEBATE (:;grin:
so I was the be all to end all and used the northwestern website!
I officially think its so weird that kk19131 are both on two different northwestern forums and can be having a political debate on one and a random address question on addresses. computers are so odd...
