It's not that I'm enthusiatic about paying Stanford's tuition, but my family has been keeping 10,000 in their checking account so that they could pay it off. I thought we were supposed to receive it in August, but now it's September and still nothing.......

I haven't gotten mine yet either and there is no update on approaching.stanford.edu, so I assume it will be coming soon. That said, if you go to your axess account, an online version is posted. Some of the fees just eat at me (like the $48 P.O. box fee per quarter). For me, it comes to over 14,000 for the first quarter when all is said and done.

Since we're talking about bills, I have a question. I applied as an international student without financial aid. After I was accepted, my immigrant visa application was approved. So now I'm a permanent resident. In light of the new circumstances, do you think I'll be able to get aid for the next 3 years?

None here in Palo Alto, either. Was wondering whether to email someone??

Update: approaching.stanford.edu now explains that the bills were sent on August 31st, later than expected.
I do have a question for my fellow financial sufferers: when is the measly $2500 awarded by becoming a National Merit Scholar subtracted from our bill? I was expecting it to be deducted from the Autumn Quarter, but Axess seems to think otherwise. Does anyone know anything about when we can expect to see this money?

Ours arrived today in the mail.

Don't worry about the bill right now. It's not due until September 28, the day after classes start.

As a permenant resident I think you still are considered to be an international student. Unless you get your citizenship you probably cannot get around your international status. But it can't hurt to apply for aid anyway.

Foreignboy - I am in the exact same position as you. I am pretty sure permanent residents get the same consideration as citizens (from the next school year i suppose). We just need to let the international office know of our status change... they said it was fine for me to just bring a copy of my green card when i get there for the international orientation. hope this helps.

It costs 14225 Dollars per Quarter!!!!!!!!!!
48$ for P.O. Box I'd rather use my mailing address in India.....

I agree with Evaspy- you should be able to get aid in following years.
Tonguelash- YOUR tuition is 14225. Mine's 14364. Housing and meal plan costs vary dorm to dorm/person to person. (which is more a note to the general reading public that there is not a set number for tuition)
| By Im_Blue (Im_Blue) on Friday, September 03, 2004 - 09:08 am: Edit |
Tuition is certainly a set number unless you take units over the limit. The total bill from housing and meals is what differs.

Frosoco-schiff Meal Plan: plan A (19meals/week)
$14278 per quarter here (plus $15 wire transfer charge)

WOW
Mine was $14447 but since we'd waived the health insurance it's now $13781. I'm in Ujamaa and I got the flex plan btw.
