What are the nicest and most spacious freshmen dorms at Stanford?

By Amylase (Amylase) on Saturday, August 28, 2004 - 02:17 am: Edit

By Efilsiertaeht (Efilsiertaeht) on Saturday, August 28, 2004 - 02:31 am: Edit

in terms of rooms? Branner. possibly FroSoCo... but then you're part of the frosoco society and become all cliquey.

Does anyone know anything about Wilbur and Stern?

By Jmstnfrd08 (Jmstnfrd08) on Saturday, August 28, 2004 - 02:57 am: Edit

I've heard the rooms at Wilbur are so-so, pretty typical average rooms, but that the food is the best on campus. I'm in Rinconada, btw. I wonder if there's any truth to the phrase Rinconada Drinkolotta.

Anything about Roble?

By Foreignboy (Foreignboy) on Saturday, August 28, 2004 - 08:08 am: Edit

I heard that the SLE dorms are the best, followed by FroSoCo. I'm in Wilbur- I was told that the rooms there are good, but I don't know how they compare to the others.
Anyway, all of the dorms are probably nice enough. It's unlikely that anyone will be forced to live in a rundown, unheated shack or something.

roble's are nice, mostly quads which is probably a better situation than doubles

By Peachieva (Peachieva) on Saturday, August 28, 2004 - 06:58 pm: Edit

whoever said the rooms in flomo/sle were the best was lying to you. I'd agree with efilsertaeht-Branner and FroSoCo.
Roble rooms have sinks and so do Lag rooms (btw I'm in Ujamaa.)It's kind of old but I liked it. And the complex is huge I almost got lost!
Wilbur rooms are OK at best, I stayed in J-Ro during AW and they were kind of small but not as bad as where I'll be staying. The food is definitely the best though.

Wilbur dorms are the absolute worst on campus. Who else will be joining me there? :)

By Samueladams (Samueladams) on Saturday, August 28, 2004 - 11:21 pm: Edit

I will, C-House baby! Yeah I really wanted Branner, just cause it's all new, beautiful, and has sinks. Roble sounded nice for it's quad layout and sinks. However, if I had to have anything else, having a basically average freshmen dorm with the best food would be my next choice (wilbur), food is important to me. Some say it's expensive, but idk, great options, great taste. And I love the fruit smoothies, that and the sushi, so I'm set. Peachieva, I stayed in J-Ro for admit as well, is it possible I know you?

By Peachieva (Peachieva) on Sunday, August 29, 2004 - 12:09 am: Edit

possibly... maybe I met you during the scavenger hunt??

By Jlq3d3 (Jlq3d3) on Sunday, August 29, 2004 - 12:53 am: Edit

Some dorms are good for different reasons:

Wilbur: Best food, but not great rooms and food takes up a lot of points.

Branner: Remodeled

Stern: Closest to the quad/center of campus

Fro So Co: Mostly 2 room doubles

I dont know to much about the rest.

By Stanfordrulez (Stanfordrulez) on Sunday, August 29, 2004 - 06:04 am: Edit

Umm.... Does anyone know anything about Stern, ie basically Donner and Larkin?

By Patient (Patient) on Sunday, August 29, 2004 - 10:41 am: Edit

Anyone re Branner: can you describe the room arrangement? I took a peek at one during the summer when camps were still going on, but didn't go inside the room. Each one looked like two rooms, 3 beds in one 3 desks/chairs in the other. Does anyone know how people typically arrange furniture, etc?

By Jlq3d3 (Jlq3d3) on Sunday, August 29, 2004 - 05:09 pm: Edit

stanfordrulez, im in larkin. I stayed in stern (twain) during aw. The rooms are standard. Seemed a bit larger and newer than wilbur rooms. The dining was pretty good, but I did not dine anywhere else so I cant compare. Larkin is the closest dorm in stern to the quad, and stern is the closest dorm overall to the quad, so it is good for lazy ppl like myself.
