is there any distinct advantage in applying to Michigan earlier in the year rather than later, other than the fact that you know early on whether u got into U of M? I doubt there is any advantage aside from "ok sweet, its not even christmas break and i know whether i got into Michigan"

No, there is an advantage, especially for out of staters. IF you apply after October, the odds of getting in are not as good.

yes, you should apply as early as possible if you're out of state, becuase your chances significantly decrease after october or november, that's becuase if they get yours in november, there aren't going to be as many out of state spots left, with most of them already filled

Yes, Michigan does not expect you to reply until other schools have given you their answer.
