You'll get into Michigan if you apply in September or October, but you will have to apply to the Business school at the end of your Sophomore Year.

hmmm, would that be ED or EA then?

I think I'm applying to Wharton ED, so hopefully it won't conflict.

By Alexandre (Alexandre) on Sunday, August 22, 2004 - 02:11 am: Edit

No, Michigan does not have ED or EA, it has Rolling Admissions. The earlier you apply, the earlier the respond. But those who apply to Michigan after October usually don't get in. So apply in September if possible, and if not, in October at the very latest.

Also apply to MIT.

Finally, why are you majoring in Business? Why not double major in Economics and Mathematics? Michigan, MIT and Penn are great at that combination, but that also would allow you to apply to schools that do not have a BBA option. Schools like Chicago, Northwestern, Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke etc...as well as LACs like Amherst, Williams, Pomona, Haverford etc...

As it turned out, I can't get need-based financial aid as an int'l student...darn...

I might apply to MIT, but getting through all the financial aid for int'l, and other red tape for non-residents, would be a major headache...

I'm also applyin to CMU.

By Alexandre (Alexandre) on Sunday, August 22, 2004 - 04:15 pm: Edit

CMU is not known for giving much aid to international students either...not is Penn. MIT, Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth, and a slew of LACs are really awesome at giving international students aid. But you will have to major in Economics/Math. I really don't understand your fixation with wanting to study Business. Economics Majors get better jobs and have higher rates of success getting into top MBA programs.

"Economics Majors get better jobs and have higher rates of success getting into top MBA programs."

Do you have any stats/articles/etc. as proof? I'm really interested in this because I've been really thinking about whether I want to major in Econ + something else or go in as a Business major...also because an Econ major is more flexible. In addition, there is the whole college vs. wharton thing at Upenn...
