It's not really a significant change, and such rankings are at best a vague benchmark when judging a school's quality. Is there a difference between #1 and #20? Certainly. One between #9 and #11? Nah.

20% admission rate. i am impressed...
what was it last year...?

By Accord04 (Accord04) on Thursday, August 19, 2004 - 07:42 pm: Edit

most importantly, wash u's yield rate increased from around 24% to 34%... this is an indicator that the school's appeal is ACTUALLY growing. FYI, the acceptance rate was 20% last year too

Expect continued slippage and ultimate stabilization in the mid-teens.

Wash U is a great school but can only parlay it's admissions and marketing savvy into limited, short-term success. While the qualifications of the student body have improved markedly over the past ten years, the University itself has in no appreciable way outpaced the growth of its peers.

dc20005---Wash U has outpaced the growth of its peers in facilities, endowment, and quality of student body...I think that is pretty "appreciable."

Wait, Wash U dropped in the rankings? Hell no! I'm going to rescind my admission and go to state school.

HOLY CRAP WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE WORLD? WHO SETTLES FOR "JUST" EXCELLENT ANYWAYS?

NOT ME!

BYE WASH U

the 4.1 peer score is not helping -- that should go up a point or so soon

Did anyone read the article about Wash U in the U. S. News & World Report 2005 Best colleges?
Who cares if Wash U is rated 11 or 9, the school is tops according to most of the students who go there or have gone there....I think the students who actually go to these top colleges have interesting insights!!!
Bye the way, have a great time to all the students who will be beginning their college life at Wash U Thursday!!!! Best wishes to you all!!!

Wash U has a huge advantage--it can give merit scholarships unlike the Ivies...
